What’s on in 2018

The Pavilion Gardens host hundreds of events and fairs throughout the year.

Among the regular events held are Artist and Designer fairs, Farmers Markets, Jewellery and Craft fairs, Toy fairs, Book fairs, Saturday Bazaars, Afternoon Dances and more. In addition to these fantastic fairs, they also host a range of seasonal events that are full of family fun. The seasonal events consist of an eclectic mix of popular stalls, live music, children’s rides and entertainment alongside season specific activities.

Craft and Jewellery Show

When: 6th & 7th October 2018, 10am – 4.30pm

This event is the perfect opportunity to find some beautiful and unique items fit for any occasion. Some of the products you can expect to find are original art and photography, ceramics and textiles, glassware and silverware, stunning and sparkly jewellery and handmade cards and crafts.

Great Peak District Fair

When: 13th & 14th October 2018, 10am – 5pm

This great event at Pavilion Gardens in Buxton celebrates everything that is good in the Peak District with over 100 exhibitors and stallholders.  Live music, tasters and demo’s, children’s attractions including the annual beer festival with beer tent and many craft ales. Midland Adventure with archery, Kingsley Falconry, street food including Tex-Mex, crepes, sweets and more.

Artist, Designer, Craft & Jewellery Fair

When: 20th & 21st October 2018, 10am – 4.30pm

Local Artists and creators are a huge part of the Pavilion Gardens and there is no better place for artists to showcase their talents at one of these fairs.

Some of the products you can expect to find are art, painting and photography, jewellery and accessories, ceramics and textiles, stained glass, original and unique designs and garden ornaments.

This event is collaboration of the regular Artist & Designer Fair and Craft & Jewellery Fair.

Antique & Collectors’ Fair

When: 27th & 28th October 2018, 9am – 5pm

Now in its 40th year, the popular 2 day fair at the Pavilion Gardens has returned ‘home’ to the newly restored Octagon Ballroom after 2 years in the temporary marquee. 100 quality Stalls offering a vast array of items for your home, collection or wardrobe. China, lighting, clothing, jewellery, clocks, furniture, toys, books and sometimes the plain unusual in this treasure trove of a fair – ideal for those lovers of all things vintage.

Entry / Cost: Adults £2.50, concessions £2, accompanied children free

This will be their fourth event of this kind in at the Pavilion Gardens. In 2015 and 2016 this event attracted around 500 visitors and a great day was had by all. Our Zombie Body Part Hunt was enjoyed by many children and  proved to be very popular and each child received a goody bag for taking part. The Wytches Market will have stalls of crafters and retailers of Pagan and Magical goods to welcome you and there will be a room for talks and workshops too. Entry to the Wytches Market and the Talks and Workshops is free. Refreshments will be available in the beautiful Pavilions Cafe or Restaurant throughout the day.

Farmers’ Market

When: 1st November 2018, 9.30am – 2.30pm

The Farmers’ Markets are the perfect place to pick up delicious, fresh and seasonal local produce all year round. Taking place on the first Thursday of each month, it’s a great opportunity to support local producers and eat healthier. Alongside the fantastic produce on offer, you will also find stalls offering plants, crafts, and home ware items which make a perfect addition to your food purchases. Many of the items are handmade and unique: unlike anything you will find on the high street.

Pavilion Gardens’ Weekend Bazaar

When: 3rd & 4th November 2018, 10am – 4.30pm

Some of the products you can expect to find are antiques and collectors’ items, jewellery and handmade fashion accessories, plants and gardening products, award winning painters and photographers, books and second hand items, sweets, cakes, pastries and muffins, locally handmade soaps and indulgent bath products, olives and nationally award winning cheeses.

Afternoon Dancing with Fred Eyre

When: 6th November 2018, 1pm – 4pm

Our traditional afternoon dances offer an enjoyable experience to all who come along. Live musicians take you through a journey of dances from the Gay Gordons to the Fox Trot, Quick Step, the Waltz and much more!

Refreshments are available to purchase from our Coffee Bar and Pavilion Café. It is advisable for large groups to book in advance.

Artist & Designer Fair

When: 10th & 11th November 2018, 10am – 4.30pm

Indoor Dickensian Market

When: 17th November 2018, 10.15am – 4.15pm

Buxton’s annual Dickensian Market this year is making a welcome return to the newly refurbished Pavilion Gardens’ Octagon. There will be 50+ stalls selling their goods to raise money for local charities at the 27th indoor market organised by the High Peak Mayoral Charity Committee. The High Peak Mayor Cllr Linda Grooby will be selecting the best decorated stall on the day. Entertainment will be provided by various local artists throughout the day.

Toy Fair

When: 18th November 2018, 10.30am – 3pm

The long-running Toy Fair is held in the Octagon Hall and is packed full with 150 stalls selling all kinds of toys, trains and models.

The dealers who take stalls at the show travel from all over the country and bring with them a huge selection of new and old collectable’s to sell. Prices start from just £1 and can run up to several hundred pounds for the very rarest items.

Collectors of die-cast models can find plenty of variety at Buxton. D.M. Promotional Models, Dalesman Die-cast and others all offer a huge selection of Corgi, Vanguards, Tekno, EFE, Lledo, Minichamps and other die-cast models – with many at bargain prices.

Model Railway enthusiasts will find plenty to interest them, with new and second hand locos, rolling stock and accessories in N, 00 and 0 gauges. You can find everything you need to create your own miniature railway

There are always hundreds of different old and new toys and models for sale. Scalextric, Lego, tinplate toys, kits, games, Star Wars and other Sci-fi or TV related collectable’s to name but a few.

Grand Bazaar & Christmas Lights Switch-On

When: 23rd November 2018, 2pm – 8pm

The Pavilion Gardens Grand Bazaar and Christmas Lights Switch on takes place on Friday 23 November from 2 pm to 8 pm.

There will be entertainment from 5pm – to be confirmed

Christmas shopping gets underway at 2pm in the Octagon Hall where you will find over 40 Christmas stalls selling a fabulous selection of seasonal food and drink, Christmas gifts and decorations, and handcrafted jewellery and crafts. Santa’s Grotto and the Face Painter will be in the Pavilion Café and children’s fairground rides and donkey rides opposite the swimming pool. The miniature train will be lit up and running in the grounds and hot festive food and drink will be served both indoors and outdoors on the Promenade. There will be late night shopping at the Pavilion Gift Boutique and the ‘Gallery in the Gardens’ and Buxton Lions will be collecting for their charities throughout the night.

  • Dating back to 1871, nestled in 23 acres of gardens with water features, lakes and miniature railway.
  • Pavilion Cafe and Coffee Bar offers both light snacks, full menu, hot and cold drinks and ice-cream.
  • Gallery in the Gardens showcases 40 local artist’s works and members of High Peak Artists group.
  • Tourist Information Centre is located within the Gift Boutique where knowledgable staff can offer local tourist information about Buxton and the Peak District area.
  • There is a year round programme of events of markets, fairs and children’s activities as well as special events during Easter, summer and at Christmas.
  • The Gift Boutique sells a wide range of gifts, kitchenalia, children’s toy’s, postcards, books, locally made deli foods, locally made craft ales, a wide range of walking maps and more.
  • Parking is available on site at the 270 space parking bay located on the corner of St. John’s Road and Burlington Road. Please note that the under section of the car park closes and is locked between the hours of 6:00pm and 8:00am. Cars wishing to be released after 6pm and before 8am will incur a charge. There are eight disabled car parking bays on the lower level of the car park.
  • Coach parking: Pavilion Gardens allows coaches to drop their passengers off on the Promenade by prior arrangement. Coach parking is available on Burlington Rd (SK17 9AY). Coaches can also park on the Promenade provided that they have arranged this prior to visiting. Additionally the Sylvan Coach park is situated off the roundabout at the intersection of the A6/A53.
