The UK has been in ‘lockdown’ since March and we’ve had to adapt to new routines, finding ways to ease our minds and stay sane amidst a new way of life.
Just because you’re stuck indoors doesn’t mean you can’t do some of the things you normally would – like keeping fit and working out. Clubbercise and Zumba devotees can now get their fix at home with classes via live stream, for just £3.50 per household.
More than just a workout
Clubbercise & Zumba with Accidental Fitness Buxton usually takes place at Buxton Community School, attracting a large loyal following each week. Business owner and class instructor Sue Cox was quick get things off the ground and online last month. “We had to quickly reinvent ourselves – we have a large number of regulars attending classes every week and it’s much more than just a workout, people make friends here. And we see new members all the time too or people who want to dip in and out of classes in between a busy lifestyle. Adapting the classes so people can join them in their own home was a no brainer, i know our regulars would have really missed everyone!”.
All abilities are welcome
With lockdown measures looking to be in place for a while yet, staying active and staying connected with others can help in so many ways, as Sue explains, “Things are so different now because that connectiveness with people has drastically changed, so i was really keen to start live streaming classes as soon as possible”.
“Classes have been running online for a few weeks now and the way it’s set up means we can all see each other – people often have a quick chat before or after which is lovely.”
Both Clubbercise and Zumba are suitable for all abilities and newcomers are most welcome. “You don’t need any dancing skills and people with all fitness levels can join in, you can take it at your own pace”, says Sue.
What to expect
Clubbercise classes are set to a soundtrack of old and new club hits, bringing your night out to your workout. Zumba Fitness gives us a Latin-inspired cardio-dance workout with world music and chart hits. Both classes offer easy to follow routines and cleverly integrated cardio moves with high and low impact options to suit all abilities.
Classes are an interactive live stream using Zoom (you don’t necessarily need to download Zoom) so everyone attending can see and communicate with each other. Each class is 1 hour long. You’ll be able to see your class instructor as she guides you through all the moves. “You can take it at your own pace in the comfort of your own home!”
