Evita

Buxton Opera Housebutton--dates-and-timesDates & Times

Following the success of Little Shop of Horrors last spring, Buxton Opera House are excited to showcase the amazing talent of local performers in its production of Evita, directed by Paul Kerryson.

The musical follows the story of the young and ambitious Eva Perón’s meteoric rise to sainthood. Set in Argentina between 1934-1952, Eva Duarte’s journey moves from poor illegitimate child to ambitious actress to, as wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Perón, the most powerful woman in Latin America. How will Eva Perón deal with this rise to power?

With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice (the creative geniuses behind Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar), the musical has become a firm favourite within the musical community.

The 7-Tony Award winning musical features songs Requiem for Evita, A New Argentina and notably the ballad of Eva Perón Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.

For the BSL interpreted performance, the interpreter will be positioned on the left hand side of the stage. For the best view of the Interpreter, Stalls seating towards the front, left hand side of the auditorium (facing the stage) is recommended.
