The Buxton Spa Prize 2019 exhibition featuring work by over 140 artists was launched at the awards event attended over 100 guests at The Green Man Gallery on Thursday 27th June. The competition, which was successfully inaugurated in 2014 aims to raise the profile of artists and their work and further enhance Buxton’s national reputation as a centre for arts and culture.
The gallery is free admission and offers visitors the opportunity to view and buy works of art inspired by the spa town of Buxton. Open daily 10.30am – 5.30pm, the exhibition will run until 31st July, throughout Buxton busy festival period.
Judges for the competition included renowned artist Charles Williams NEAC, 1st Prize sponsor Trevor Osborne, Teen and Children’s prize sponsor and proprietor of No.6 tearooms and accommodation Louise Potter, Derbyshire Museums Manager Ros Westwood, Peak District Artisan and High Peak Artist Ingrid Karlsson, 2016 Buxton Spa Prize winner Rob Wilson and 2019 guest judge and new chair of Vision Buxton, Roddie McLean.

Visitors to the gallery are invited to choose their favourite artwork by taking part in The Buxton Spa Prize People’s Choice 2019. The winner will be announced on 27th July 2019. The cash prize is sponsored by Bill and Sheila Barratt.

The exhibition is open until 31st July from 10.30am till 5.30pm at The Green Man Gallery, Hardwick Hall, Buxton, SK17 6PY and entry to the gallery is free admission.
