Summer Fun at Crich Tramway Village – Every Weekend in August

With the school holidays in full swing, there’s a range of activities for all the family to enjoy at the popular visitor attraction Crich Tramway Village in the Peak District.

Located in the scenic Derbyshire Dales, the vintage trams dating back to the 1900s, transport you along the traditional village street setting into open countryside with breathtaking views of Derwent Valley. There’s definitely a sense of stepping back in time along the recreated period street!

Events are happening throughout August and into September, with something for all ages and there’s a range of activities geared towards children to enjoy for the rest of the summer holidays.



Woodland Week

Embrace nature during Woodland Week, 22nd – 26th August, aimed at all the family there’s lots of outdoor activities with a woodland and environmental theme. Enjoy weaving willow with Chaz of Wayside Willow and stories with Maria throughout the week. Discover the pretty nature trails around the village and woodland crafts.

Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Bank Holiday Weekend

Bring your own teddy bear and picnic for the Crich Tramway Teddy Bear’s Picnic on Sunday 28th and Bank Holiday Monday 29th August. Enjoy children’s entertainment from 12.30pm – 2.30pm.

Follow the ‘Teddy Trail’ on the woodland walk from Wakebridge to Derwent View, and look out for live teddy appearances.

September sees the return of the hugely popular Steampunk Weekend in conjunction with Steampunks Always Welcome – Lincoln, is set to return for two amazing days.

Victorian romanticism meets modern technology! Grab your goggles and dust off your cogs and gears for a full weekend of Steampunk action on 10th & 11th September from 10am – 5pm each day. Activities include musical entertainment from Daisy Roots skiffle group and Madame Misfit. Fun with bubbles featuring Jan and Tim. Steampunk Hula Hoopers – have a go! Strolling circus entertainers and Steampunk traders. A great day for anyone interested in Steampunk, Victoriana, engineering and local history!

Tram Day!

On Saturday 17th September, it’s Tram Day! A must if you wish to ride on several vintage trams, since most of the operational fleet will be running. The trams take you on a scenic ride around the village with vistas across the surrounding valley. You’ll be spoilt for choice to experience the thrill of riding on different vintage electric trams. Which will be your favourite?!

As usual, visitors to the village can always enjoy unlimited rides on the vintage trams. If you need a breather, stretch your legs on the Woodland Walk Sculpture Trail and Rita’s Tea Rooms and the Red Lion Pub will be open as usual serving refreshments.
