Founded in 2003 by Frank and Angela Bennison, daughter Sooze and Jen took over the running of the business in 2018. As the coronavirus crisis unfolded earlier this year, the subsequent lockdown provided an opportunity to plan ahead and make some key changes.
As well as a brand new look to the shop front, Famous Names have now launched their new website in response to a big increase in online purchases, “During lockdown we had a lot more enquiries about our range and what was available online. It seemed a perfect time to launch our new website. There’s now a wider range of furniture available online which is great and customers can easily browse our stock before visiting our showroom. We can always reserve items if there’s something you really love – many of our items are one offs”, said Sooze.
“We’ll continue to expand the range and we have new stock arriving every week”, said Jen.
As renowned suppliers of top quality ex-display items, returned orders, discontinued lines and sample pieces priced at least 50% lower than the full retail price, stock is sourced from well known high street stores and major manufacturers such as John Lewis, Next, Furniture Village, Parker Knoll and more.

Since reopening in June, Famous Names now offers flexible payment terms with Klarna Pay Later. An alternative to credit, Klarna allows you to make a purchase with the store and delay the payment by either 30 days, or slicing the payment into 3 amounts over 3 months.
“Offering finance gives our customers more flexibility and it’s interest free with no fees and a great alternative to credit with a simple application process. It’s been really popular”, says Jen.
Latest design trends
Our homes have played a pivotal role during the coronavirus crisis. More time at home has given us chance to rethink and revamp. “Social spaces in the home have become increasingly important – our lounge and dining areas for example have had to become multipurpose, coupling as office space or home schooling and so it’s given people a chance to change things up and think differently about the whole look of their home”, says Sooze.
“Hot trends include greys and neutral colours – which continue to be hugely popular, these shades give you plenty of flexibility to adds pops of bold colour or pattered accessories. Geometric patterns have been a continuing upward trend and that’s definitely set to continue – you see it on everything now from sofas, walls, cups, bedding and more”, says Jen.
“We love what we do and our customers are at the heart of our business. 2020 has given us both a chance to reshape the business and adapt to the changing times and make the shopping experience with us even easier”, says Sooze.
The showrooms are open 10am – 5pm, Monday to Saturday (closed on Sundays).
Many items are available for immediate purchase and delivery. Customer parking is available at the front of the store, making it easy to collect items.
