The hugely popular Crich Tramway Village WWII – Home Front Event returns in April, where you can step back in time to 1940s Home Front Britain. Collect your identity card on entrance and experience a real taste of life during the Second World War!

The Village will be transformed to take you back to the WWII era where historic wartime and military vehicles will be on on the move amongst the vintage trams from the 1940s period; visitors will able to ride the trams as much as like during their visit.

Event Organiser, Brian Roberts, said:

“This is one of our most popular events. Visitors can expect air-raid warnings and the sound of low flying aircraft. You will need your identity card for a real taste of life during the Second World War. There will also be a range of trade stands selling 1940’s memorabilia.”

The Red Lion public house will be serving drinks, including cask ales and offering traditional pub games.

There’s an Easter egg hunt for children aged 4 -15 years and for a taste of nostalgia, war time songs will be performed each day by professional entertainers.

Children will be able to take part in the Crich “Boot Camp” and the evacuee scenarios. Watch out for the antics of off-duty personnel and the spivs! Also for the event only, you can see the ‘Law at War’ in a traditional setting – but take care not to get arrested!

Setting the mood, you will be entertained with war-time songs from a variety of entertainers throughout the day including the Bluebird Belles.

General Admission prices on the door are £16.50 for adults, £12.50 for seniors (aged 60+), £9.50 for children (aged 4 – 15 years) and family ticket (2 adults, 3 children) £39.50. Save 50p on standard priced tickets by booking online at least 24 hours before arrival.

Visitors are encouraged to dress for the occasion! Anyone dressing in 1940s costume will receive reduced admission charges.

A 1940s dance will take place on the evening of Sunday 16th April from 7.30pm to 10.30pm above the Red Lion Pub. No pre-booking required.
