The Tours
In nine intimate rooms at the Buxton Crescent, this unique visitor experience tells the stories of Buxton, The Crescent, its famous water and the many people who came to seek its cure.
An all-weather boutique attraction, it offers a taste of the Buxton story, and provides an ideal starting point for anyone visiting or learning about the town.
As you explore each room with your tour guide, visitors are enticed with interactive digital displays and informative information panels.
For centuries Buxton has been a place where people have sought the water cure and within this Grade I listed building you will encounter visitors from a period spanning more than 10,000 years who have travelled to the town to drink and bathe in our thermal mineral water.
The highlight of the tour is the VR (virtual reality) balloon ride as you’re taken on a journey back in time to Buxton in 1792 in a hot air balloon!
Follow rainwater on a 5,000 year journey through the Peak District hills and find out why it emerges warm from the natural springs beneath the Crescent, you can even bottle some straight from source and take it home with you!
There’s plenty of other hidden nuggets too so you’ll almost certainly leave having learnt something new.
Whether you book online or in person, your visit will start at the Pump Room, so please head there on the date of your visit.
Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust also host a year-round events programme offering a range of workshops, children’s craft activities and play sessions, lectures, talks, with events for all ages, with events taking place in The Assembly Rooms, Buxton Visitor Centre and the experience itself.
