What if everything turned out okay? What would Buxton look and feel like in 2030? How can we create the future that we need and want? Transition Buxton invites you to find out…
As every passenger-seat navigator knows, if you don’t know where you want to go, it’s hard to plot the best route to get there. The Big Buxton Conversation on Saturday 24th April will be a journey through time from where we are now (What is), to your imagined Buxton in 2030 (What if), to reveal the choices and changes we need to start making now (What next) to create the future Buxton that we choose and deserve.
Sketch artist Jenny Leonard will create a visual representation
Taking place over Zoom between 10am – 3pm, with comfort and lunch breaks, engaging exercises, and a spot of time travel. Over the day, our talented live sketch artist, Jenny Leonard will create a visual representation of our journey before our very eyes. The day will whizz by!
Everyone who lives, works, studies, owns a property, or runs a business in Buxton is invited to join the Big Buxton Conversation. We hope to welcome 100 Buxtonians! No preparation is required, all you need to bring is an open mind.

Who are Transition Buxton?
What does Transition Buxton do? The short answer is that we do everything and anything that we can that will strengthen our ability to adapt and live sustainably. The Transition Towns movement is based on taking positive action, not just to reduce our carbon footprint, but also to provide resilience to external events and build a better community through sharing resources, skills, and friendship.
We encourage and supports our local community to live sustainably and to build our collective resilience to environmental change. We aim to reduce or eliminate waste, the use of fossil fuels, and misuse of plastics.
Transition Buxton always welcome new members!
Our activities are entirely led and delivered by our members as part of their voluntary personal and collective commitment to building a positive future together. What we can achieve is only limited by the time and skills people are willing and able to contribute, and by our imaginations. Members and supporters can muck in a little here and there, take on an ongoing role, or join a team do deliver a specific project.
If you would like to get involved in a project, offer your skills, consider an ongoing role, or propose a new activity we would love to hear from you. Contact us via social media, email us at [email protected] or go to their website to find out more about our work.
