After four long years of closure, The Duke has thrown open its doors once more – welcoming locals and visitors alike back into its warm embrace. With a proud history rooted deep in the heart of Burbage in Buxton, this much-loved pub has undergone a £240,000 refurbishment that has breathed new life into a local landmark.
Now under the care of Rebecca and Dan Higgins, The Duke aims to reclaim its place as the beating heart of the community – somewhere everyone feels right at home.
A Perfect Blend of Old and New
Step inside and you’ll find that the spirit of The Duke’s past is very much alive. Its traditional charm and character have been lovingly preserved, while thoughtful modern touches give it that fresh, country pub feel.
Hidden cosy corners invite you to settle in and relax – whether you’re a weary walker after a long trek, a family in search of a friendly haven, or a foodie looking to indulge in something deliciously homemade.
Homemade Food, Heartfelt Hospitality
The kitchen at The Duke is all about comforting, home-cooked food. Expect pub favourites done right – from the hearty Pie of the Day and crisp Beer-Battered Fish to their juicy Signature Burgers.
But that’s not all. The menu travels beyond traditional British plates, offering dishes with international inspiration for a bit of culinary adventure. And with a daily-changing specials board, there’s always something new to tempt you.
Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free guests are catered for, and little ones can tuck into their own kids’ menu.
To drink? You’ll find an excellent selection of cask ales, along with Buxton Coffee Roasters coffee – perfect for a post-lunch pick-me-up.
A Warm Welcome for All
The Duke prides itself on being family and a dog friendly pub, with a genuine welcome that extends to all – walkers with muddy boots included! Whether you’re popping in for a pint, a meal, or just a coffee, you’ll find the atmosphere relaxed and inviting.
On warmer days, make the most of the outdoor seating area – ideal for al fresco dining or soaking up a bit of sunshine with friends.
More Than a Pub – A Hub for the Community
There’s always something happening at The Duke. From weekly Quiz Nights that spark a bit of friendly competition to popular Coffee Mornings where you can to chat and catch up – it’s clear this pub isn’t just back in business; it’s back at the heart of village life.
