Privacy & cookie choices
Last updated 7 November 2026.
This notice covers the Explore Buxton website. For privacy questions or to exercise your data rights, email sales@explorebuxton.co.uk.
Information you give us
If you email us about an event, listing or advertising, we receive your email address and the information in your message. We use it to respond and handle your enquiry. Please only send information needed for your request.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is submitted to Mailchimp, which handles the mailing list and newsletter delivery for us. You can unsubscribe using the link in any newsletter. Read Intuit Mailchimp’s privacy statement for information about its processing.
Visiting this website
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as IP addresses and requests to deliver and protect the website. Cloudflare’s privacy policy explains its processing.
Each public page asks your browser to download the Google Analytics script. Google receives your IP address to deliver the file. If you enable analytics in Cookie settings, the site also sends Google page views and interactions such as newsletter signup clicks. We do not send the email address you type into the newsletter form as an analytics event. Signup clicks are not confirmation that a subscription has been completed.
Cookies and local storage
Change your privacy choices at any time. Rejecting optional cookies lets you continue browsing the guide. With JavaScript disabled, optional analytics and embedded content do not load.
- Your privacy choice: stored in your browser under
explore-buxton-privacy-v2for up to 180 days. Once it expires, you can opt in again through Cookie settings. - Saved events: events you choose to save are stored only in this browser under
explore-buxton-saved-events-v1. Unsave them in the event finder or clear your browser’s site data to remove them. These do not create an account or sync between devices. - Optional analytics: Google Analytics can set cookies beginning
_gaafter consent. Our cookie expiry is set to 180 days. These help measure visits. Google signals and advertising personalisation are disabled for our analytics tag. The existing Analytics property retains event data for two months and user data for 14 months, with the user retention period reset by new activity. These settings do not apply to aggregated reports. Google’s privacy policy explains its processing. - Optional maps and videos: embedded Google Maps, YouTube and Vimeo content stays blocked until you allow external content. Once enabled, those providers receive information including your IP address and may use their own cookies. Their policies apply: Google and Vimeo. You can instead follow the link to open content directly with its provider.
Your choice applies to this browser. Withdrawing analytics permission stops Analytics measurement and removes the first-party Google Analytics cookies this site can access. It does not erase information already received by Google. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings.
Advertising and other websites
Direct sponsor adverts are labelled “Advertisement”. Each page load chooses from the banners booked for its ad spaces. The rotation uses no cookies or visitor profiles. Following a sponsor, booking or other external link takes you to a separate website with its own privacy practices. Social advertising pixels are not enabled in this version of the site.
If you allow Google advertising in Cookie settings, we ask Google AdSense for non-personalised ads based on the page you visit and your approximate location. Google and its ad partners receive information such as your IP address. They may use cookies or local storage to limit how often you see an ad, measure ads and prevent fraud. Advertising cookies may include __gads, __gpi and __eoi. See Google’s list of advertising partners and their privacy policies, or read how Google uses information from partner sites.
You can turn Google advertising off at any time in Cookie settings. Withdrawing permission stops Google ad requests and removes the first-party advertising cookies we can access.
Your choices and rights
You can withdraw newsletter consent by unsubscribing and change optional website storage choices using the controls above. Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction or transfer, or object to processing. Contact sales@explorebuxton.co.uk with your request.
You can raise a concern with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
