Please note at quieter times the building may close earlier.

The building is closed Christmas Day / Boxing Day & New Years Day and will also close at the earlier time of 2pm on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

  • Lakeside Kiosk/Hut – Open from the February half-term until October half-term, during school holidays and at weekends  (subject to weather)

  • Toddler’s Soft Play Area (inside the Pavilion Kitchen) – Open daily from 9.30am

  • Buxton Brewery Shop and Bar – Open daily from 9.30am
  • Gallery in the Gardens art gallery – Open daily from 9.30am 

  • Boating Lake Currently closed for the winter. Re-Opening Spring 2024.

  • Pavilion Kitchen  – During winter: Open 9.30am – 3pm Weekdays, 9.30am – 4pm Weekends 

  • Pavilion Tea Rooms  – Open from Thursday to Sunday between 12pm and 2pm: Throughout January & February, they are offering 10% off your food & drink bill in the Tearooms on Thursdays & Fridays (T&Cs apply, excludes Afternoon Tea)

  • Ice Cream Parlour – Open during events only currently

  • Miniature Train – Open 11am – 4pm at weekends and school holidays (weather permitting)
  • Toilets – Toilets across the park are currently open from 9.30am to 5pm daily. 

  • Lakeside Hut: Open weekends and school holidays (weather permitting)

Public toilets: All toilets across the park are open currently open from 9.30am to 5pm daily.

Changing Places toilet: There are several disabled toilets within the Pavilion Gardens building, including a  “Changing Places” facility. The car park and kiosk toilets are accessible by use of a Radar key. If you have other specific needs, please contact the Pavilion Gardens and they will endeavour to help you.

Dating back to 1871, nestled in 23 acres of gardens with water features, lakes and miniature railway.

Pavilion Kitchen offers casual dining, ideal for families including light snacks, freshly made pizza, hot and cold drinks, ice-cream and more.

Ice Cream Parlour offers more than 24 flavours of ice cream!

Outdoor seating area with picnic tables.

Gallery in the Gardens, home to the High Peak Artists groups, showcases more than 40 local artist’s works covering a multitude of disciplines including various forms of painting; printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, glass, wood, textiles & jewellery.

Boating Lake boasting 11 boats; 6 rowing boats and 5 pedalos with each one allowing up to 4 people.

There is a year round programme of events of markets, fairs and children’s activities as well as special events during Easter, summer and at Christmas.

Parking is available on site at the 270 space parking bay located on the corner of St. John’s Road and Burlington Road. Please note that the under section of the car park closes and is locked between the hours of 6pm and 8am. Cars wishing to be released after 6pm and before 8am will incur a charge. There are eight disabled car parking bays on the ground level of the car park.

Car Parking

Along St John’s Road (SK17 9AR) you will find the Pavilion Gardens car park.  The car park is owned and managed by High Peak Borough Council.  More information on parking in Buxton can be found here.

There are 199 spaces, 15 disabled spaces and toilets in this car park.

Parking is on a pay and display basis with the following charges:

0-1 hour = £1.60
1-2 hours = £2.20
2-4 hours = £3.60
Over 4 hours = £5.40

After 6pm – car parking is free.
Blue badge holders are free.

Charges apply Monday to Sunday from 8am – 6pm.

Please note, the under section of the car park closes and is locked between the hours of 6pm and 8am. Cars wishing to be released after 6pm and before 8am will incur a charge.

Coach Parking

Coaches can drop their passengers off on the Promenade by prior arrangement. Coach parking is available on Burlington Road (SK17 9AY). Coaches are also able to park on the Promenade provided that they have arranged this with the Pavilion Gardens prior to visiting – please see contact details above.

Additionally the Sylvan Coach park is situated off the roundabout at the intersection of the A6/A53. For directions you can contact the Pavilion Gardens.

Disabled Access

There are eight disabled car parking bays on the lower level of the car park. The ground floor is accessible to wheelchair users throughout and there is a wheelchair accessible lift from the ground floor foyer to the Pavilion Arts Centre, which is also accessible from St. Johns Road.

The Pavilion Arts Centre is still split level, so wheelchair users will only be able to access the entrance level area. There are several disabled toilets within the Pavilion Gardens building, and also the car park and kiosk area. The car park and kiosk toilets are accessible by use of a Radar key. If you have other specific needs, please contact us and we will endeavour to help as best we can.

Bramhall’s Amusements Inflatable Fun Time in the Octagon Hall, Pavilion Gardens

Antique and Collector’s Fair

When: 13th & 14th April 2024, 9am – 4.30pm (Sat) / 9am – 4pm (Sun)

Over 100 quality stalls will fill the Octagon Hall with a wide range of items. Perfect for vintage and retro lovers! If you are looking to add to you home, garden, wardrobe or collection don’s miss this regular event.

Entry / Cost: Adults £2.50, concessions £2, accompanied children free.

Annual Brass Band Experience

When: 21st April 2024, 9am – 7pm

Entry / Cost: Admission price £8 entry payable cash or card

Sunday Carvery 

When: 21st April 2024, 9am – 7pm.

The Pavilion Tearooms will be serving a delicious carvery with a choice of meats and accompaniments including potatoes, vegetables and homemade Yorkshire Puddings! A vegetarian nut roast option is also available. Prices are £16.95 per adult & £8.95 per child. Booking is highly recommended and can be completed by clicking here.

H&H Classic Car Auction

When: 23rd & 24th April 2024, 9am – 7pm.

The popular H&H classic car auction returns to the Pavilion Gardens featuring classic, collector, and performance motorcars.

Since 1993, H&H has been a leading auction house, renowned for its sale of some of the world’s most significant motorcars and motorcycles. With a trusted reputation built over 30 years and serving over 75,000 clients worldwide, they stand as the longest-established auction house of its kind in Europe.

Bidding will take place live at the venue, online via their website, by telephone and commission. Entry into the auction is free for auction attendees with a catalogue, available at the door.

Toy Fair

When: 28th April 2024, 10.30 am – 3pm

The long-running Toy Fair is held in the Octagon Hall, a part of the Victorian Pavilion Gardens complex. The Buxton Toy Collectors Fair sees the historic Pavilion Gardens packed full with 150 stalls selling all kinds of toys, trains and models. The dealers who take stalls at the show travel from all over the country and bring with them a huge selection of new and old collectable’s to sell. Prices start from just £1 and can run up to several hundred pounds for the very rarest items.

Entry / Cost: Adults – £3.50, Senior Citizens – £3.00, Children £1 – (under 5s free), (Early Entry from 8.00am – £7.00)

Weekend Bazaar

When: 4th & 5th May 2024, Saturday 10am – 4pm, Sunday 10am – 4.30pm

The Bazaars offer a great variety of stalls.

Coopers Annual Antiques Fair

When: 10th, 11th & 12th May 2024 – Friday & Saturday: 11am – 5pm and Sunday: 11am – 5pm

Featuring more than forty specialist fine art and antiques dealers from across the UK, the fair offers a superb range of treasures with prices from less than £50 to more than £50,000.

Among the well-known regular exhibitors will be 19th and early 20th century English furniture and accessories; fine art specialists with 20th century works, contemporary oils and watercolours.

A number of decorative specialists will be exhibiting, broadening the fair’s appeal to a younger market. With an enticing mix of 20th century furniture, mirrors, garden accessories, country house pieces and striking statuary, they make the Buxton Fair a new destination for interior designers and decorators.
