The Pavilion Kitchen is the most recent in a number of exciting new developments to the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton. Gifted to the people of the town by the 7th Duke of Devonshire in 1869, the gardens are at the heart of this Victorian spa town, drawing visitors and locals alike onto its leafy paths to enjoy the peace and quiet. With its miniature train, playgrounds and boating lake, one of Buxton’s best loved visitor attractions has something for everyone and is a popular destination for families.
It comes as no surprise then that new operators Parkwood Leisure have made significant improvements to the family-friendly dining area with the new Pavilion Kitchen which opened this week. The brand new menu offers easy eats with a casual dining, street food feel in an informal market hall style setting – to eat in or take away. Dig into tasty Rotisserie style roasted chicken or fuel up with a made-to-order stone baked 12″ fresh pizza. All pizza’s are available gluten free at no extra charge.
There’s also a great selection of new sandwiches, wraps, salads and breakfast as well as a children’s menu too. You can take a seat and peruse the menu at your leisure before wandering over to the new self-service counter to order.
The design of the newly refurbished area has painstakingly restored many of the old features of the building which have not been seen for around four decades, including the reinstatement of the open glass roof which has created a truly illuminating effect. This, along with the rustic boiler house lighting, wooden floor and street-food style service outlet have already received a positive reaction from customers.
Sandwiched between the shop and the conservatory with a view out to the gardens, the kitchen is the perfect place to sit and unwind and watch the world go by. If you’ve just arrived in town and you need a launch pad to explore the streets, this is the ideal location; the car park being just at the other end of the promenade.
Councillor Damien Greenhalgh, Executive Councillor for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure at High Peak Borough Council said: “It’s fantastic to see the results of the joint-investment that is being made at the Pavilion Gardens – one of High Peak’s most-loved leisure attractions. This new spacious and contemporary kitchen offers customers a taste of something a little different and it’s great to see some of the design features which have been reintroduced after being hidden for several decades. I look forward to popping down in the New Year when the restyled tea room will also be open. Together these venues will increase the choice and variety of dining options available in the town and I know that they’ll be extremely popular with locals and visitors alike.”
If you have a craving for ice cream, no matter what time of year(!) the Ice Cream Parlour serves award winning ice cream from The Ice Cream Farm (Cheshire). Located on the other side of the Retail Hall, you’ll find more than 24 sumptuous flavours of ice cream from Liquorice to Maltese, Salted Carmel to Rum ‘n’ Raisin and more. Toasties, cakes, scones and other snacks are also available.
