Higher Buxton

Higher Buxton is in & around the A515 southbound main route into Buxton

Higher Buxton is often referred to a ‘village with the town’ and home to the weekly Buxton Market on the Market Place. Sited in the southern part of the town centre with the Market Place at its heart, the area retains a unique character and charm, one set to continue through its ongoing development and regeneration.

The last two years have seen an explosion of new, independent businesses open and the area firmly established as Buxton’s creative, bohemian neighbourhood with buzzy cafes and pubs, lively music venues and an alternative shopping fix.

Many buildings here date back to the 1800’s with an attractive array of architecture too see.

Pay and display car parking is available on the Market Place (except Tuesdays and Saturdays when the market takes place) Market Street, South Street Car Park and Buxton Town Hall at The Slopes. Parking is also available outside some of the premises.

TIP: Check out the many independent shops and businesses here – from home and interior shabby chic, an artisan bakery, local butchers, Scriveners Book Shop (legendary!) and one of only 2 micropubs in Derbyshire – The Ale Stop.
