Higher Buxton is often described as a “village within the town”. Its historic Market Place hosts Buxton Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

The area has an array of independent businesses and is firmly established as Buxton’s creative, bohemian neighbourhood with buzzy cafes and pubs, lively music venues and an alternative shopping fix.

The area includes Georgian and Victorian buildings around Market Place and the High Street.

Pay-and-display parking is available at Market Place, Market Street, South Street and The Slopes. Both Market Place car parks close on Tuesdays and Saturdays for the market; remove vehicles by 5am on those mornings. Check signs for on-street restrictions.
