Since 1868, the iconic Palace Hotel Buxton & Spa has stood as a proud landmark in the heart of the spa town of Buxton. Surrounded by over five acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and nestled at the edge of the Peak District National Park, this grand Victorian hotel offers more than luxurious stays – it’s also home to a hidden gem of a dining experience open to everyone, not just hotel guests.

Whether you’re a local resident, a day-tripper exploring Buxton, or planning a night at Buxton Opera House, dining at the Palace Hotel offers an elegant and relaxed experience in a stunning historic setting.

Fancy a hearty breakfast? If you’re looking for a breakfast to fuel up for the day, cooked breakfasts are served in the Restaurant 7am – 9.30am weekdays, 8am – 10.30am at weekends.

So whether you’re out shopping in the nearby Cavendish Arcade or Springs Shopping Centre, or taking a stroll through Pavilion Gardens, or you just want to leave the cooking behind, the Palace Hotel makes an ideal dining stop.

A Sunday Tradition Worth Making Time For

Sundays at The Palace Hotel are all about comfort, flavour, and a touch of indulgence with their Three-Course Sunday Carvery, served in the restaurant from 12 noon to 2.20pm.

Begin with the Soup of the Day, freshly made and served with warm bread. Then, move on to the star of the show – the carvery, featuring a different roast meat each week, served with seasonal vegetables, rich gravy, and a fluffy, homemade Yorkshire pudding. Finally, end on a sweet note with a weekly-changing dessert – from classic sponge puddings to decadent chocolate creations.

All this is just £14.95 per person, for three courses, making it one of Buxton’s best-value and most satisfying Sunday dining experiences.

Alfresco Dining & Summer Vibes in the Rippon Bar

The newly refurbished Rippon Bar with its outdoor terrace is a must-visit. Soak in the tranquil garden views with a cold drink and your favourite dish. The bar is a peaceful spot that feels miles away from the bustle – yet just steps from Buxton Railway Station and the town centre. Opening times currently are 5pm – 11pm every Friday and Saturday.

For craft beer lovers, the Lounge Bar and Rippon Bar serve a curated selection of Buxton Brewery beers. Sip favourites like Deepdale, Right to Roam, and Gate Keeper, all crafted with passion and quality right in at their brewery in Buxton.

Better yet, food from the Lounge and Restaurant menus is also available to enjoy in the Rippon Bar – ideal for a relaxed evening with drinks and great food.

Afternoon Tea with a View

Treat yourself to a classic Afternoon Tea experience in The Conservatory, offering serene views across the hotel gardens. Served daily from 11am to 5pm, it includes all the favourites – delicate sandwiches, homemade scones with clotted cream and jam, and a delightful assortment of sweet treats. At just £16 per person, it’s the perfect way to relax with friends or celebrate a special occasion.
