Palace Hotel Derby Sports Lounge – the Ultimate Spot for Live Sport
Tucked inside the iconic Palace Hotel Buxton, there’s a fresh new reason to visit – whether you’re a sports fan, a social butterfly, or simply looking for a relaxed place to unwind. The newly opened Derby Sports Lounge has completely transformed the former Derby Room into a vibrant, welcoming hub where great atmosphere meets laid-back entertainment.
Watch, Play, Unwind
Step inside and you’ll find the perfect setting to catch the latest match with a drink in hand. The space has been designed for both energy and comfort – ideal for cheering on your team, then sticking around for a friendly game or two. Challenge your mates to a round of pool, or try your aim on the striking illuminated darts board. It’s the kind of place where an evening easily stretches into the night.
Best of all, you don’t need to be staying at the hotel to enjoy it. The lounge – and the equally inviting Rippon Bar – are open to everyone, making them a great addition to Buxton’s social scene.
Alfresco Evenings at the Rippon Bar
Just beyond, the refurbished Rippon Bar offers a completely different mood. With its outdoor terrace overlooking peaceful gardens, it’s a hidden gem that feels far removed from the bustle of town – despite being only moments from Buxton Railway Station and the centre.
The Rippon Bar has an outdoor terrace overlooking the gardens. Contact the hotel for current opening days and hours.
Local Brews Worth Raising a Glass To
The Rippon Bar’s April 2026 drinks list included Buxton Brewery beers. Ask the hotel for the current selection.
Casual Dining, Done Right
The Derby lounge offered a bar menu when this feature was published in April 2026. Check the hotel’s current food and drink information for menus and service times.
The April 2026 menu included sandwiches and toasties with fries and salad.
The menu also listed snacks and salads; contact the hotel for the latest selection.
