Buxton’s favourite open mic night takes place at Buxton Brewery Tap House, the micro-brewery’s flagship venue bringing great beer and food to Buxton since 2013.
A friendly open mic which welcomes all newcomers!
Many venues in Buxton have played host to this night, which apart from the irksome Covid crisis, the open mic has run successfully in Buxton for over twelve years.
Buxton has a thriving music and arts scene. A soundman, Bryn, is on hand all night to sort the players. Usually three songs are offered, but lee-way is used on quieter nights. All performance types welcome. Electric amps and guitars are welcome. No drum kits, but hand percussion or snares with brushes or hot sticks are fine. Please consider: The ethos is on rehearsed performances and we can’t accommodate loose jammers.
Many people have made their first public performances here and it proves to be a fertile ground for young upcoming talent.
Provided equipment: PA system with 10-channel mixer and all microphones. Stage foldback / monitor speakers. You need to bring your own instruments.
The audience are mellow and so is the atmosphere. It is busy, so performers and punters need to get there early for a slot and a seat.
The bar serves a wide range of Buxton Brewery beers on cask and keg, as well as cider, wine, spirits and soft drinks for the non-beer drinkers.
