Discover the Vibrant World of Tracey Coverley: A Must-See Solo Exhibition

Currently captivating art enthusiasts and critics alike, Tracey Coverley’s solo exhibition is a must-see exhibition this summer. A contender in this years Buxton Festival Fringe awards, the exhibition runs to 2nd August 2024 in the Art Café, Pavilion Gardens. This award-winning textile artist’s latest showcase is earning rave reviews for its imaginative and lively depictions of influential figures.

A Fringe reviewer praises the exhibition as “a stimulating celebration of strong, independent characters,” noting how “Tracey’s portraits always seem to escape their moorings, bursting into life.” Indeed, the artworks in this collection are a testament to Tracey’s talent, bringing iconic personalities to life solely through fabric and thread.

The exhibition features an eclectic mix of well-known faces, from Ena Sharples to the late Queen Elizabeth II. Each portrait is meticulously crafted, layer by layer, with intricate stitching and cutting. Tracey’s creativity and precision transform simple textiles into vivid likenesses of legends like Bette Davis, Dame Edna Everage, Vivienne Westwood, Marlene Dietrich, and, the beloved Billy Weston of the famous Billerettes!
