What is there to See and Do at this award-winning attraction?
The Heights of Abraham offers a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy. Begin your adventure with the 554ft alpine cable car flight, featuring breathtaking views of the surrounding Derwent Valley, and High Tor, the impressive limestone crag overlooking Matlock.
At the summit, enjoy stunning panoramic views from the estate’s vantage points. Immerse yourself in guided tours of historic illuminated show caverns, interactive exhibits, woodland trails and listen to the audio tour revealing history at your own pace.
Adventure PlaygroundsÂ
Young adventurers will love the two exciting play areas! The Explorer’s Challenge, located at the summit, is a thrilling mini assault course perfect for little ones.
Further down the estate, the Woodland Adventure offers a fun-filled experience with ropes and swings to keep your children active. Don’t miss the chance for a family race on the famous giant slides – fun for all ages!
Dine with a view!
While the kids play, adults can relax in the beautifully landscaped gardens and enjoy refreshments at the Vista Restaurant at over 1000 ft above sea level. There’s also The Terrace Café and The Tavern which boasts the oldest beer license in the area.
The exclusive Vista balcony gives views for miles across the valley, a great place to soak up the surroundings while enjoying a freshly made meal, accompanied by a local ale or gin. Visitors can take a light lunch with friends in the downstairs Terrace Café, with far-reaching views to enjoy with a hot drink and a delicious cake.

Ideal family day out: Punch and Judy ShowsÂ
The hilarious Punch and Judy show returns for another summer of laughter at Heights. This extravaganza, packed with fresh and hilarious twists, will leave everyone, from kids to adults, in stitches. With clever dialogue and masterful puppetry, this is an event not to be missed! There are three shows per day during the summer holidays, from 18th July – 1st September 2026.
Bring Your Dog
The Heights of Abraham welcomes well-behaved dogs on leads throughout the park, making it a fantastic outing for the whole family, including your four-legged friends.
There are lots of trails to explore around the park including the Willow Sculpture Trail by artist Caroline Gregson, celebrating local heritage.

Take in the immersive sound and light show that tells the tale of how this underground world was formed, millions of years ago. Step back in time at the Great Rutland Cavern with your Victorian guide, who tells tales of miners past, innovative owners and mischievous spirits.
And….don’t miss Womble Mania!
Womble Mania! is a family-friendly interactive exhibition that celebrates the beloved creatures, who are now enjoying underground and overground adventures at the Heights of Abraham.
And you can meet Orinoco and Great Uncle Bulgaria during May on the 23rd, 24th & 25th, 29th, 30th & 31st; find both of them at the Meet & Greet area near the WOMBLE MANIA exhibition.
