On 11th & 12th October 2025, Poole’s Cavern invites you to its very first Pre-History Weekend – a family-friendly adventure packed with live demonstrations, hands-on activities, and unforgettable stories from the Stone and Bronze Ages.
Perfect for curious minds of all ages, the weekend promises a unique chance to explore life before history was ever written.

Live Demonstrations
Witness history in action with flint-knapping and bronze-casting demonstrations by Dr. James Dilley of Ancient Craft. See for yourself the remarkable skills that shaped the tools and treasures of our earliest ancestors.
Hands-On Fun

Handle real prehistoric artefacts in fascinating object-handling sessions.

Build your very own miniature mud hut (limited spaces, first come, first served).

Try your hand at being an archaeologist with a mini dig activity.

Dog-Friendly Adventures
Well-behaved dogs are welcome across most of the site, making it a fun outing for the whole family. Please note that access for dogs is restricted in the Tipi and mud-hut building zones.
