Looking for an adventure that you and your dog can enjoy together? Poole’s Cavern in Buxton offer dog-friendly tours in the historic show cave. Bring your well-behaved pup along as you explore this ancient natural limestone cavern, marvel at the stunning formations, and, while you’re here, enjoy the beautiful woodland trails of the Buxton Country Park.
Bring Your Dog on an Underground Adventure
Poole’s Cavern now welcome well-behaved dogs on all standard cave tours. With a maximum of 6 dogs per tour, we highly recommend pre-booking to ensure a spot for your furry friend. If you haven’t booked in advance, you can still ask about availability on the day at the Visitor Centre desk.
More Than Just a Cave Tour
After your tour, continue the adventure with your dog in Grin Low Woods and Buxton Country Park; located just across the car park. There are three woodland trail footpaths leading from Poole’s Cavern Visitor centre to take you to the summit of Grin Low – look out for the carved sculpture way markers, how many can you find?!
A brisk 20-30 minute walk will lead you to Buxton’s very own folly, Solomon’s Temple at the summit, offering breathtaking views across the High Peak and beyond. It’s the perfect spot for a well-deserved break.
Dog-Friendly Facilities
At Poole’s Cavern, the staff understands that your dog is part of the family! That’s why dogs are welcome not only in the caves but also in the Visitor Centre and Café in the Cavern. Their cafe is equipped with treats, water, and comfortable dog beds to ensure your pet feels right at home while you enjoy a refreshing break.
Guided Tours: A Journey Beneath the Earth
Book a tour and let the knowledgeable guides take you on an unforgettable journey beneath the earth. You’ll be led through beautifully illuminated rock-sculpted galleries adorned with spectacular crystal stalactites and stalagmites, some of the largest in Derbyshire. Guides share fascinating local folklore, history, and insights into the geological formations, all at a relaxed pace so you and your dog can enjoy every moment.
Combine Your Visit with a Woodland Walk, Lunch or Exploring Buxton
After your cave exploration, treat yourself to lunch at the Café, or take some time to explore the town of Buxton. There’s so much to see and do, making Poole’s Cavern the perfect day out for you and your four-legged friend.
Embark on a memorable adventure and discover why Poole’s Cavern is truly a ‘Wonder of the Peak District’!
