Indulge in Delights: Buxton Pudding Emporium’s New Lounge Beckons You

Original Buxton Pudding

Nestled within our Victorian spa town of Buxton lies a culinary gem that has been tantalising taste buds since its inception in 2017. The Buxton Pudding Emporium, initially a showcase for the renowned Original Buxton Pudding, has blossomed into a haven for lovers of all things sweet and savoury. And now, with their recent relocation to Hardwick Street in February, there’s even more reason to pay them a visit.

From its beginnings in The Square, the Emporium has evolved into more than just a shop. Under the guidance of owners Dom, Alan and their team, it has become a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike. Their commitment to sourcing high-quality ingredients from local and UK-wide producers ensures that each bite is a testament to the rich tapestry of flavours this region has to offer.

The decision to move to Hardwick Street was driven by a desire to expand their offerings and offer a more immersive experience. Set within a period building in the heart of Buxton’s Conservation area, the new location boasts a wider range of delectable treats, gifts, cards and original artworks. But the pièce de résistance? The recently introduced ‘Lounge’, where guests can unwind with a fresh cup of coffee and a slice of homemade cake.

Speaking of cake, let’s talk about the star of the show: the Buxton Pudding. While Bakewell boasts its tart (and pudding!), Buxton has its own claim to fame with this melt-in-your-mouth delight. Based on a revived 200-year-old recipe, it’s a symphony of pastry and raspberry jam that has stood the test of time. As Dom proudly declares, “The recipe is just as old as its counterpart in Bakewell.”

But the Emporium is not just about cake. It’s a treasure trove of artisanal delights, from oils and sauces to chocolates and truffles; beautifully curated giftware and unusual art work. And let’s not forget their extensive range of products from the own Buxton Pudding bakery including mince pies, puddings, cakes and other sweet treats.

“We know that our suppliers follow the same ethos as we do; the finest ingredients, innovation, sustainability and care for the environment as well as being handmade by valued and rewarded colleagues.”, said Alan.

For those seeking the perfect gift, look no further than their bespoke hampers. Unlike pre-packed options, you have the freedom to curate your own selection from the shop’s offerings, ensuring a truly personalised touch and hampers can be posted UK wide.

The shop provides a haven for food enthusiasts, adorned with carefully selected gifts and artworks. The ‘lounge’ with its cosy ambiance provides the perfect respite with a simple menu serving teas, coffees and an irresistible selection of cakes and sweet treats. And the best part? They’re all available to purchase in the Emporium.

Whether you’re a local in search of your next sugary delight or a tourist keen to savour the finest offerings of Buxton, don’t miss the chance to visit the Buxton Pudding Emporium.

Opening times are Monday – Saturday 10am – 5pm, Sunday 10am – 4pm.
