October Half term is a great time to visit the Heights of Abraham and breathe in some fresh air. Enjoy the stunning views from the cable cars across the Peak District and guided tours deep underground in their spectacular show-caves.  Take in the spectacular views, as you dine above the trees in the Vista Restaurant or unwind on one of the cafe terraces or in the licensed bar.

Take a walk through the woodland nature trails to the very top of the Heights in an Area of Special Scientific Interest. Learn the secrets of the caverns and caves beneath the Heights on a guided tour under the earth and discover which famous philosophers, artists and scientists have visited the Heights in the Long View Exhibition Gallery. Children will love the Woodland Adventure play area with an exciting range of towers, slides, climbing wall and rope walks…

Picnic sights are dotted around the grounds providing more scope to explore the estate or simply to relax in natural surroundings. Dogs are very welcome and travel free on the cable cars and are welcome on cafés outside terraces with water bowls throughout the site.

Once the cable car arrives at the summit you have access to all the facilities at the Heights of Abraham, including the show caverns, walking trails, play areas, guided tours and galleries. The ticket office is located a short walk from Matlock Bath railway station, car and coach park at the northern end of the village.

Shiver Your Timbers This Halloween at Heights of Abraham!

The Heights of Abraham Estate tops off its 35-year birthday celebrations for the Cable car system with a four-day long Halloween adventure from Thursday 31st October to Sunday 3rd of November, where guests are given a treasure map full of clues and riddles and set the challenge of releasing three ghostly pirates from their 300-year-old curse. (Normal cable car ticket prices apply).

There are prizes for those who succeed, as well as the opportunity to win a luxurious short family break at the award-winning Darwin Forest and a VIP trip back to the Heights in 2020.

Fire pits will be installed at the Summit, offering guests an opportunity to toast marshmallows in the Autumn sunlight, and the Estate’s exhibitions, adventure play areas, galleries and film theatre will be open throughout the October half term.

The Masson Pavilion will premier a new short film, “Take Me Higher”, a digital production shot almost entirely by drone during the summer season. This 12-minute film presents the Heights of Abraham 60 acre estate in a way never seen before, in impressive 4K resolution with a musical soundtrack especially arranged for the film.
