Buxton’s Own Superstar DJ on a Mission to Bring Back the Fun to Pubs

If you didn’t know him, you could be forgiven for thinking that Leighton Sigley was a place, not a man, but in a way, the local DJ does offer a destination and that destination is good times.

A dance music DJ for many years, Leighton is familiar with a turntable or two. However, like many commercial artists, he’s had to roll with the economic punches of the last few years and diversify. He has established himself an entertainer, embarking on a one man mission to copy and past some fun into the pubs of Buxton and beyond.

“The pandemic broke people’s pub-going habits,” says Leighton. “But Buxton’s packed with brilliant old-school pubs, and this is the perfect excuse to get back out there – support your locals, have a laugh with your mates, and make a night of it!”

You can, of course, hire Leighton to play music. If you’ve got an event coming up and you don’t want Uncle Terry spinning Spandau Ballet for the umpteenth time; Leighton’s a pro DJ and his rates are more reasonable that you might think.

But it doesn’t stop at the decks – he’s now added games to the mix; Everything from Bingo to quizzes to the less familiar such as Open the Box, Barrel of Plenty and Play your Cards Right (although some of us may be old enough to remember that last one from Bruce Forsyth’s popular Saturday night TV show). Whatever the game, the vibe stays the same: it’s all about having a laugh.

• Monthly Bingo night – last Friday of the month, 9pm at Khomkhai in Buxton where you can win cash prizes.
• Every Sunday evening from 8pm, he brings us Games Night at The Parks Inn, Harpur Hill, Buxton, featuring a short quiz, bingo, Play Your Cards Right and more.
• At Milton’s Tap, every 2nd, 3rd and 4th of the month, from 8pm Compendium Night – a packed evening including a quiz, bingo, Play Your Cards Right and Open the Box. Also featuring the legendary Barrel of Plenty – with prizes and mystery envelopes! Games are free to enter.
• At The Swan Inn in Buxton, there’s a monthly bingo on Wednesday evening from 7pm, with lots of cash prizes + afternoon bingo EVERY Tuesday at 3.30pm.
• Pub quiz night and Bingo at Wetherspoon’s Wye Bridge Inn, monthly. Starts at 8pm, £2 per person, max 6 people per team.
