Festive Shopping at Gallery in the Gardens Buxton
This Christmas, Gallery in the Gardens at Buxton’s Pavilion Gardens is the perfect place to find unique, meaningful gifts. Run by the talented High Peak Artists collective, the gallery brings together work from more than 40 local artists across a wide range of disciplines. Whether you’re searching for a keepsake, an original artwork or a handmade accessory, you’ll find something for every taste and budget.
A Festive Showcase of Local Art
Visitors can explore an inspiring mix of painting, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, jewellery and more. The gallery is filled with original creations that celebrate craftsmanship and creativity, making it an unbeatable destination for thoughtful Christmas shopping.
Beautifully Designed with a Festive Twist
As well as artworks, the gallery offers a wide selection of greetings cards, including Christmas designs created by the artists themselves. This year, the festive collection is bigger than ever, with handcrafted garlands, ceramic and glass decorations, felt ornaments, and a brand-new range of artist-designed Christmas cards. It’s a great chance to stock up while supporting local makers.
Find a Gift With a Difference
If you’re looking for a stand-out present, the gallery’s jewellery cabinets are a must-see. Housing pieces by some of the region’s finest designer-makers, the selection includes silver, aluminium, copper and ceramic jewellery alongside designs crafted from textiles, glass, gemstones and resin. Every item is handmade and completely unique.
Shopping on a smaller budget? You’ll still be spoilt for choice. From silver earrings and colourful watercolours to ceramic characters, mosaics, lino prints, notebooks and coasters, the gallery offers high-quality gifts at a range of prices.
New Exhibition: Hidden Histories by Rebecca Clitheroe
A brand-new pop-up exhibition has opened in the Art Café (upstairs above the Pavilion Gardens Restaurant and Bar), featuring work by local artist Rebecca Clitheroe. Rebecca is known for her Hidden Histories series, which blends pastels and pencils to create illustrations of local and national landmarks—each containing subtle hidden details and stories woven into the artwork. The exhibition is free to visit, and all pieces on display are available to purchase.
Meet the Makers Behind the Art
One of the gallery’s great strengths is its personal touch. Each day, artists from the High Peak Artists group are on duty to chat with visitors, answer questions and share the stories behind their work. It’s a warm, welcoming experience that adds something special to every purchase.
Make It a Festive Day Out
Located inside the Pavilion Gardens, the gallery sits alongside the thriving Retail Hall, where visitors can browse an eclectic mix of homewares, books, local produce, craft beers, gins and more. Buxton Brewery also hosts a pop-up bar with a cosy seating area and a range of merchandise – the perfect spot to unwind after browsing.
For food and drink, the Pavilion Kitchen and Pavilion Gardens Restaurant & Bar are just steps away, offering light lunches, freshly made pizza to order, snacks and sandwiches, warming drinks and sweet treats.
