Devonshire Dome Spa in Buxton announces sudden closure

Devonshire Spa

Devonshire Dome Spa to close

The spa is closing “due to the challenging economic environment”, they announced on social media.

Known for its tranquil setting and exceptional service, expressed deep regret over the decision: “We are sorry to be closing and would like to thank all our customers past and present”, the statement said.

The University of Derby first opened in February 2006 by the Prince Charles. The spa was run by university students for many years. In 2021, the university withdrew its Higher Education provision from the Buxton campus leaving just Buxton and Leek College operating in the building. The Dome closed to external events in 2024.

The 250 year old building dating back to 1779 is one of Buxton’s most iconic buildings and  the spa features flooring and tiling dating back to its days as a hospital.

Customers with unused vouchers or credit are encouraged to get in touch as soon as possible to “process these accordingly.” The spa has asked that individuals contact them directly on 01298 338408 as soon as possible and before the closure date.

The announcement marks the end of an era for many loyal patrons, and the team at Devonshire Spa have extended their sincere gratitude to everyone, “Once again thank you for your custom and loyalty over the years.”

The spa were winners of the Luxury Emerging Spa in Northern Europe at the World Luxury Spa Awards 2017, named as Professional Beauty’s Day Spa of the Year in 2016 and shortlisted for the same award in 2017.
