From the creative team that brought you Evita, Buxton Opera House proudly presents two brand-new productions of Jesus Christ Superstar and Company, starring talented community members from the High Peak and surrounding area. There are some familiar faces returning to the stage this year, including Catherine Pugh, who played Eva Perón in Evita last year.
A global phenomenon that has wowed audiences for decades, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar is a timeless work set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events, but seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as Superstar, I Don’t Know How to Love Him and Gethsemane.
From musical theatre’s most renowned composer Stephen Sondheim, Company is largely regarded as a trailblazer of the modern-musical genre and the winner of 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Lyrics and Best Book.
Featuring an energetic score with hits including Being Alive, You Could Drive a Person Crazy, Marry Me a Little and of course Company.
Jesus Christ Superstar and Company will both running at Buxton Opera House from Wednesday 16th – Sunday 27th April 2025.
