Gallery in the Gardens: A Treasure Trove of Artistic Gifts

As the festive season approaches, the search for that perfect Christmas gift is in full flow. Located inside the Pavilion Gardens, the ‘Gallery in the Gardens‘ emerges as a beacon for art lovers and gift seekers alike. This unique gallery, home to the High Peak Artists group, features an exclusive selection of artwork from 45 resident artists from the Peak District and Derbyshire area.

Offering a warm and friendly welcome to art enthusiasts, collectors and visitors to Buxton, enjoy original works of quality and substance by emerging and established artists, whatever your budget; items can be found from just £10. The ideal destination for finding that special Christmas gift?

Marvel at a variety of paintings and mixed media pieces, along with exquisite glass creations. You’ll also find finely crafted ceramics and a wide selection of handmade and silver jewellery from various makers. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the traditional black and white prints as well as vibrant colour images. Textiles, expertly turned wood, and detailed embroidery also feature, alongside linocuts, etchings, pen and ink illustrations, and drawings. For those with a soft spot for textiles, there is an assortment of felt work and knitwear.

You’ll find a wide range of greeting cards, each produced by the talented artists of the group. These cards are not just a means to convey wishes; they’re mini artworks, perfect for those looking to add a personal touch to their gifts.

Jewellery enthusiasts will be captivated by the two cabinets brimming with handcrafted pieces by some of the region’s finest designer jewellers. The materials used range from silver, aluminium, and copper to glass, ceramics, textiles, gemstones, and resin, offering something for every taste and style.

Current residencies include acclaimed artists such as Adele Kime (jewellery), Pauline Townsend (silk painter), Jill Kerr (lino prints), Louise Jannetta (painter), Kathy MacMillan, Liz Swift (textile artist), Andrew Brooks (photographer), Linda Sheldon (glass artist) and Tracey Coverely (textile portraits). Many of the artists are featuring new works and brand new displays ahead of Christmas.

The gallery is staffed with artists every day and are on hand for any questions. Everything you see at the exhibition is available to buy, so you can find something truly unique and even collect pieces by your favourite artist.

And if you need a moment to relax, the Pavilion Kitchen and Tea Room next door is ready to welcome you. Whether it’s for a light snack, a freshly baked pizza, a sweet treat, or a refreshing drink, it’s the perfect way to complement your visit.

The gallery is open during December, Monday – Friday 9.30am – 3pm, Saturday & Sunday 9.30am – 4pm. Entry is free.
