New photography exhibition captures some of worlds most elusive wildlife

A stunning new exhibition, The Wonders of Wildlife is now on at Buxton Museum & Art Gallery, featuring work by well known local wildlife and landscape photographer Tesni Ward.

Working intimately with some of the most elusive and misunderstood wildlife, Tesni has gained quite a following since becoming a professional photographer in 2016, capturing revealing images of animals both in the Peak District and across the globe. Her work gives the viewer a unique insight into their world, with the character and personality of each creature shining through in her photographs.

From Javelin Thrower to professional photographer

Tesni’s work life couldn’t be more different now – she previously worked as a professional Javelin Thrower until she turned pro as a photographer.

“I have always had a passion for the natural world and the wildlife living in it; as a teenager I experimented with my first DSLR but it wasn’t until 2013 I started to travel more between work and university and began to spend more time dedicated to photography and by 2016 it become my full time job”.

“Working as a wildlife photographer is challenging but extremely rewarding and I aspire to use my images and stories to promote conservation and educate the public on the struggle wildlife faces, and, what we can do as individuals to help protect the many species currently under threat from human activity”.

She regularly works on projects with specific species, studying them in depth and using this knowledge to raise awareness.
