McDonald’s Drive-Thru plans for Aldi site in Buxton

Buxton could see its first McDonald’s in the town creating up to 120 jobs with 30 of those being full time positions.  Planning documents with High Peak Borough Council have revealed that McDonald’s has applied for planning permission to build a drive-thru restaurant on the site that is currently occupied by Aldi on Station Road. The plans include demolishing the existing building and also details landscaping work and a play frame.

Aldi are building a new bigger superstore on the A515 in Harpur Hill on the outskirts of Buxton, after planning permission was given for the development earlier this year.

The closest McDonalds to Buxton is currently in Macclesfield 11.5 miles away.

If approved, the new McDonalds restaurant would opera 24 hours a day. The planning application also details a reduction in car parking spaces from 71 to 64 as well as creating 8 new cycle spaces for bikes. Other, separate planning applications have been made for the famous ‘gold arches’ signage.

The public have until 30th August to submit comments on the applications.
