Step back in time and discover the mysterious beauty of Poole’s Cavern like never before – by the flickering glow of lantern light. This special guided tour offers a rare chance to explore the historic cavern in a way reminiscent of explorers from over a century ago.
As you descend into the darkness, each step lit only by the soft gleam of lanterns, you’ll feel the echoes of history surrounding you. Wander through the Roman Chamber, where ancient secrets have slowly revealed themselves over the years, and enter the awe-inspiring Cathedral Chamber, a place steeped in stories of wonder and intrigue.
Your journey continues across the bridge into the heart of the cavern, where you’ll encounter natural wonders like Poole’s Cat and the striking Organ Pipes. Traverse the Mary Queen of Scots Pillar before reaching the deepest point of the tour – a breathtaking 1,000 feet into the hillside.
Unlike the standard tours, this immersive experience takes place in minimal light, revealing the cave’s formations in a dramatically different way. For your safety and to preserve the ambiance, each group is limited to just 20 people, and guests are kindly asked not to use torches or mobile phones during the tour.
When Do the Tours Take Place?
The Lantern Led Tours take place monthly and the final one of the year takes place on Saturday 22nd November 2025.
