High Peak Makers Market began a fresh journey in late 2024 when it was taken over and re-launched with a renewed purpose: to create an affordable, supportive space for local makers to showcase their work. The vision was simple but ambitious – celebrate local talent, welcome visitors from across the region, and invest back into the High Peak community.

Curated Creativity

Each market brings together a carefully selected mix of makers, crafters, bakers and artists from across the area. The team pride themselves on featuring stalls you may not have seen before, offering visitors a genuinely eclectic and refreshing experience every time. From handmade gifts and artisan food to original art and innovative crafts, no two markets are the same.

Four Unique High Peak Venues

The markets currently run across four distinctive and characterful venues:

  • Buxton – The Assembly Rooms, Buxton Crescent Hotel

  • Old Glossop – Distant Hills Brewery

  • Glossop – Victoria Hall

  • Chapel-en-le-Frith – Town Hall

Each location brings its own atmosphere, helping the market attract a wide audience and support makers from different parts of the High Peak.

Rapid Growth and Big Ambitions

What began as a plan for just four markets has rapidly grown. They’re closing 2025 with 14 markets, over 100 makers attending, and thousands of visitors. The momentum isn’t slowing. Two new venues are set to be announced for 2026, further expanding the market’s reach.

Giving Back to the Community, Supporting Local Causes

Founders Richard and Sophie were determined that the re-launched market would support more than just creativity – it would champion local causes too.

Funds raised from the markets directly support local charities and good causes; by the end of 2025, the team expect to have donated thousands of pounds back into the community, supporting local causes, children’s groups and individuals in need.

Recently supported causes include:

  • The Hummingbird Project

  • Little Cherubs

  • Guides fundraising for a volunteer trip to support schoolchildren in Malawi

  • Students raising funds to support schools in Kenya

  • Sponsorship of Glossop North End U11 Football Team for two years

  • Accessibility support for High Peak Mobile Physio

  • Donation to a 10-year-old boy’s fundraiser following his cancer treatment

They are always looking for local causes, projects and individuals to support. If you would like to apply for a donation, please email: [email protected]
