Big News for Buxton! Brand new Buxton Sports Centre
Exciting things are on the horizon for Buxton, as the future of Harpur Hill Leisure Centre aka Buxton Sports Centre has officially been secured – permanently. The site has been acquired by Solanki Holdings UK & International, the same developer behind the purchase of Peak Buildings (formerly home to Buxton Museum & Art Gallery) and, more recently, The Cavendish Shopping Arcade, signalling continued investment in key sites across the town.
This prime two-acre site at the heart of the community is set for a complete transformation, ensuring it remains a long-term destination for sport, fitness and wellbeing for generations to come.
But this isn’t just a reopening…
This is something much bigger.
Introducing Buxton Sports & Fitness Hub ⚡
“A bold new vision. A true community asset. A place built for performance, wellbeing, and connection”, said the developers.
The new Buxton Sports & Fitness Hub promises to bring a wide range of modern facilities and activities under one roof, creating a space where everyone from beginners to seasoned athletes can get involved.
💥 What’s Planned
The redevelopment will introduce a host of new and upgraded facilities, including:
- A brand-new gym with multi-level memberships
- Full-size basketball court hire
- Indoor cricket nets
- Courts for badminton, table tennis and volleyball
- Pickleball courts
- Rock climbing facilities
- And padel courts coming soon
🏋️♂️ Classes, Training and Activities
Alongside the facilities, there will be a varied programme of classes and activities designed to suit all interests and fitness levels, including:
- Spin classes
- Dance fitness sessions
- Martial arts programmes
- Pole fitness
- And more to be announced
☕ A True Community Space
At the heart of the hub will be a community-led café, restaurant and bar, creating a welcoming space to relax, socialise and connect.
This isn’t just about sport; the developers are keen for this to be a place where the whole community can come together.
🚧 Opening soon
Developers say the new centre will be “opening soon”. For more information, visit the Buxton Sports Centre Facebook page.
