Buxton Remembrance Service will be held at The Cenotaph on Buxton Slopes, on Sunday 10th November 2024. Prior to the service, at 10.30am, there will be a parade, led by Fairfield (Buxton) Brass Band, from Buxton Market Place to the Cenotaph, consisting of Regular Troops, Cadet Groups, Emergency Services, Scouts and others – those groups will fall out to their usual places near the Cenotaph.
The parade will be followed by the Civic Parade from the Town Hall with The British Legion, our Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Michael Hall, The High Peak Mayor’s representative, and Councillors.

Once all are assembled, the service starts at 10.50am, and will be led by The Revd Andrew Parker & The Revd Sandra Doore.
Once again, organisers wish to say this a big thank you to the Buxton Community Choir, who will accompany Fairfield Band and the assembled crowd, with hymns and The National Anthem.
As the buglers play The Last Post, Terrace Road will close for the two minutes silence for a moment of reflection. After the two minutes, as the buglers play “Reveille” and Terrace Road will be opened again for a little while.
Wreaths will be laid at the Cenotaph during the service, by Civic leaders, Representatives of the Armed Forces and many other local organisations. If you intend to be there to lay a wreath during the ceremony, please report to the steps on the Crescent side of the Cenotaph by 10.35am latest.
After the service there will be a parade – this will form on The Slopes, in the wide path opposite Hardwick Street. The Parade will be lead by a pair of Pipers “Duo Bagpipers” , down Terrace Road, through the Crescent, where our Deputy Lord Lieutenant and other Civic Leaders will take the salute, outside the Crescent Hotel, through The Square to The Pavilion Gardens.
The Parade will end on The Pavilion Gardens promenade, where, while Fairfield Band play, and there will be a review of all marching groups by our Deputy Lord Lieutenant, The British Legion and Civic Leaders.
After the Parade finishes, all are welcome to refreshments Pavilion Gardens Conservatory.
Temporary road closures
There will be short term road closures – Terrace Road for the two minutes silence at 11am – then, after the service, Terrace Road, The Crescent and The Square will be closed to allow the parade to take place.

Glossop – The service takes place at Glossop Cenotaph, Norfolk Square from 10.50am. The service will be conducted by Rev Norman W Shaw BA(Hons) GradDipTh and Fr Martin Sylvester STB MA. Refreshments will be available at Bradbury Community House, Glossop after the service.

Hadfield – The service takes place at Hadfield Cenotaph from 10.50am. The service will be conducted by Rev Chris Nowak. Refreshments will be available at Hadfield Hall after the service.
