Thinking about your next steps? Whether you’re finishing school, considering a career change or ready to develop new skills, the University of Derby Buxton’s Open Event on Saturday 25th April 2026, from 10am – 1pm at the iconic Devonshire Dome, is your chance to explore the possibilities.
Discover a wide range of study programmes and apprenticeships, learn more about funding options, meet expert tutors and experience the campus environment that could shape your future.
Explore State-of-the-Art Facilities
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the specialist on-campus facilities, all designed to give learners hands-on experience in real, professional environments. These include:
- Seven industry-standard kitchens
- AA Rosette-commended Harpurs Bistro
- Salon Inspire
- A simulated hospital ward and childcare setting
- Dedicated media and IT hubs
All facilities will be open throughout the event, giving visitors the chance to experience the University’s dynamic and inspiring learning environment first-hand.
The event is the ideal opportunity for students and their parents to speak to staff and tutors about anything they need to know.
Visitors can enjoy free tea and coffee while exploring the stunning surroundings of the Devonshire Dome – one of the most distinctive educational venues in the UK.

The Open Event is open to everyone considering their next step – from school leavers to career changers and adult learners. With a vast range of courses available, including flexible adult learning options, there are opportunities for all ages and stages.
From short courses that support career progression to Access courses designed to help mature students move on to degree programmes, UoDB provides flexible study pathways that fit around work and family life. Whether you’re starting out, up-skilling or returning to education, the team will be on hand to guide you through the options available.
Your Pathway into Work: Apprenticeships at UoDB
For students who prefer a hands-on route into employment, the Open Event on 25th April is a great opportunity to explore apprenticeships and speak directly with UoDB’s Apprenticeship team. With options across subjects such as Business and Culinary, apprenticeships allow learners to earn while they learn and gain real workplace experience.
