Large wildfire near Errwood Reservoir in Goyt Valley near Buxton
Emergency services are still responding to a large wildfire near Errwood Reservoir in the Goyt Valley near Buxton, which started on Wednesday morning (30th April)

Latest update from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service 3.45pm
On Wednesday there was a large smoke plume – which could be seen from 25 – 35 miles away including of course Buxton. A high number of calls were received by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue. Firefighters were first called at 11.42am on 30th April 2025.
10 fire engines from Derbyshire and Cheshire are at the scene, supported by a water carrier, an Argocat, and a Unimog.
Residents affected by the smoke are advised to keep windows and doors closed.
Fire crews attending on Wednesday were from Buxton, Glossop, Whaley Bridge, Crich, Matlock, Staveley, Ashbourne, Hathersage, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and Congleton (Cheshire).
