This year, Hargreaves of Buxton celebrates 160 years since Alice Hargreaves established the company in 1865. Four generations of the Coles family have proudly continued her legacy, transforming the business into a beloved destination store.
While the original “China and Glass Shop” has evolved significantly from its early days of Doulton figurines and such, it remains a cornerstone of their offerings. The first floor now features a comprehensive kitchen shop, launched 25 years ago, providing everything from jam jar labels to high-quality cooking pans. We stock a wide array of top brands like Scanpan, Kitchenaid, Masterclass, and De Buyer, alongside unique discoveries, all chosen for their quality, value, and style. You’ll also find kitchen textiles from Ulster Weavers and Cath Kidston. The adjoining upstairs room offers home decor items, collectibles, faux flowers and antiques in an authentic vintage setting.
The ground floor is dedicated to gifting and homewares. It’s the perfect place to find a special present, with a rich selection of home fragrances, including scented candles from Woodwick and Chateau de Versaille, wax melts from Freckleface, and room diffusers and fragrance lamps from Maison Berger. Hargreaves also offers a new range of bespoke sweet and savory treats featuring our commemorative livery, alongside gifts from Savon de Marseilles, the William Morris Sleep Well collection, and Gisela Graham.
Recently, they’ve expanded their offering to include a new bedding department, with double and king-size selections from brands like Paoletti, Wylder, and Edinburgh Weavers. Nearby, you’ll discover a wonderful range of lighting, cushions, and throws, including tapestry cushions from Hines of Oxford and Riva.
For homewares, they proudly feature renowned names such as Spode, Royal Worcester, Portmeirion, and Mikasa for tableware, and Dartington and DRH for glassware. You can also find Cath Kidston and Keith Brymer Jones products, ensuring you have everything you need for your dining experience.
