Buxton FC’s 2nd Round FA Cup Match on BBC One this weekend

Buxton FC

In a spectacular first for the Bucks, their second-round tie with Morecambe will be televised live on BBC One.

After their historic defeat of York City in the first round of the FA Cup, Buxton will face League One club Morecambe, at Silverlands on Saturday, 4th December at 12:45 GMT.

The FA broadcast fee for the match coverage nets Buxton FC £60,000. The lowest ranked club left in the FA Cup, The Bucks have won five consecutive games to reach the second round proper.

Playing a club four tiers above them isn’t going to be easy. Their first-round rivals York City are just one tier above, playing in the National League North, and so League One Morecambe will present a significantly tougher challenge. But with a packed Silverlands and all the local support behind them here’s hoping for a win.

Victory in this match would put Buxton into the third round, a major FA Cup milestone for any club as this is where the Premier League and EFL Championship clubs join the competition. Maybe it’s too early to dream of hosting Liverpool or Man Utd at Silverlands, but that’s surely on the minds of the players and staff, and so their determination to make it past this match will be palpable on the pitch.

Watch the game live on BBC One or iPlayer on Saturday, 4th December at 12:45 GMT.
