A shared passion for new owner of Buxton’s only micropub

Rich Andrew, new owner of The Ale Stop in Buxton who took over the business earlier this year is keen to expand on the pubs reputation for its eclectic regular live music gigs and it’s ever changing cask ales on offer.

The bar has a well established local following and Rich plans to expand on the popular programme of live music, “being a music lover myself, I’ve seen some of the bands and acts that have played here previously and the place has been packed – Carnival Day was really something special, everyone had a really good time, the atmosphere was amazing. Bands and musicians who play here know they’re going to be appreciated by the audience. The acts we’ll continue to have play here will feature some of the bands that have visited before as well as some newcomers; folk, syth sounds and everything in between”.

“And I’ll keep doing what this pub does best serving good ales and ciders”. The thirst for craft beers has revived the fortune of many bars and pubs in recent years and The Ale Stop has flourished as a result of its reputation for serving quality cask ales and ciders – sourced both from local breweries and UK wide.

As Derbyshire’s second only micropub, the bar has earned a prestigious listing in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide 2018, one of only two pubs in Buxton to be listed in the purely independent guide, now in its 45th edition with listings based entirely on nomination and evaluation by CAMRA members.

“We do things a bit differently here and that’s how we’ll continue, I’m looking forward to putting on more on the gigs. In time we’re planning on developing the DJ booth so that’s going to be great fun when it’s up and running.”
