Two further public engagement events have been announced for the Revitalising Buxton project which will provide further opportunities for members of the community to contribute their thoughts and feelings about future plans for Buxton’s town centre.

These new community events will take place in Fairfield and Harpur Hill on the following dates and times:

  • Wednesday 11th September, 1pm – 4pm, Fairfield Adult Education Centre
  • Wednesday 11th September, 6pm – 7.30pm, Harpur Hill village hall workshop – places are limited so please book via this link: https://forms.office.com/e/ZH6B5HMxNM

Led by High Peak Borough Council with funding from the Future High Streets Fund, the regeneration project aims to create a more resilient town centre and explore leisure, hospitality and other uses for the town centre; deliver new homes; and improve the public space around The Springs.

Councillor Anthony McKeown, Leader of the Council, said: “The conversations we’ve been having this summer, through this consultation, are really valuable.

“This is the biggest investment in the town centre in decades so it’s important that we hear from local people about what the town centre means to them and how they’d like to see it developed as we work towards appointing a development partner to bring our shared vision to life.

“We want as many people as possible to get involved so it’s great to see these additional opportunities to being provided in communities around the town as well as in the town centre and online.

“I’d encourage everyone in Harpur Hill and Fairfield who has a view on Buxton town centre’s future to come along and talk to the team.”

A programme of community consultation has been taking place this summer, involving in-person and online engagement activities designed to determine local priorities, explore the process towards planning and gather ideas to help inform detailed development proposals.
