Review: Pavilion Gardens Café

Share With Friends

After a pleasant walk through the Pavilion Gardens, admiring the many lovely trees and vistas it was time for light refreshment in the Restaurant.   My favourite is a nice pot of tea with a well toasted tea cake. The restaurant was light and airey and I was served within a few minutes. I particularly like a ‘well toasted’ tea cake, not ‘flash toasted’ which seems to be the trend in so many places.

My request was well met and I was addressed throughout as ‘Madam’ which I admit to liking.   I don’t care for casual service and very often no service sadly.  This is not the case in the Gardens, the staff were well presented and friendly but professional and service was excellent.

The restaurant is clean and bright with comfortable seating made more enjoyable if you can bag a window seat.  The tea cake with strawberry jam was very good, however only one side was toasted, my only criticism.  At £3.80 I feel this is very good value and I would recommend you to visit the Pavilion Gardens Restaurant where a comprehensive menu awaits, from a light snack as I had, or a full meal.  Also the afternoon tea menu looks delightful and very reasonably priced.   There is a children’s area so parents can take a break and the Restaurant caters for all ages and disabled customers are welcome.

So the next time you are in Buxton, or you may live here like me, have a wander down to the Pavilion Gardens as there is much more and you won’t be disappointed.
