RedWillow will be the latest addition to Buxton’s growing food and drink scene with the opening soon of a new craft beer and artisan gin bar in the town.
RedWillow Brewery established in 2010 by husband and wife Team Toby and Caroline Mckenzie opened their first bar in Macclesfield 2013 and are currently busy transforming the former RBS bank in Cavendish Circus and hope to be open mid-December at the latest.
Owner Caroline Mckenzie said “Buxton is a lovely place and it felt like the right time to do it – there are exciting times ahead for the town and a real sense of civic pride in Buxton and we love the mix of interesting, independent businesses here too. The town has an individuality we really liked and so when we saw the opportunity to expand here, we were really excited”.
“At RedWillow our passion for flavour runs throughout all aspects of the bar. We’ll be showcasing our own range of award winning beers and exclusive one off brews as well as beers from across the UK and around the globe. There will be 15 keg and 5 cask beers on at all time giving a plethora options, alongside over 50 artisan gins and frizzante on tap we’re sure to have something for everyone!
“Our cocktails will be ever-changing and seasonal so there will always be something new to try. Regular tasting events will be hosted throughout the year, showcasing Gins, Rums and all manner of tipples. It’s always great to try something new and quirky and want to share that with you.”
Although the former RBS bank is not a listed building it does lie within the Buxton Conservation Area, “we are keen to work around the original features of the building, such as the mahogany detail and the original etched windows – we want RedWillow Buxton to take on the charm of the property. We really like this area of Buxton with it’s quirky architecture and historic buildings”.
“We’ll be serving food in the near future with all of our homemade dishes. The menu will feature sharing plates and a range of stone baked pizzas with seasonal specials. We look forward to meeting our new customers local to Buxton and further afield”.
