Half-term 17th – 25th February 2018
There’ll be plenty of swashbuckling fun for children this February half-term as Chatsworth raises the Jolly Roger and welcomes a motley crew of pirates, buccaneers and seadogs into its farmyard and adventure playground.
It’ll be all hands on deck as the trailer ride* takes to the high seas of Stand Wood to water-blast pirate targets while landlubbers can let off steam in the adventure playground by climbing Jacob’s ladder up to the Crow’s Nest on the lookout for Treasure Island.
Would-be pirates can copy Long John Silver by making their own pirate hat or a squawking parrot in the crafts area and there are photo opportunities galore in the pirate ship photo booth. Meanwhile, alongside all the pirate-fun there’ll be plenty for animal lovers too. There are guinea pig handling sessions and even spiders and snakes (weekdays) for the bravest while all children can explore the farmyard to meet ponies, piglets and many more.
And if all that mischief-making makes a young pirate hungry then it’s time to head back to the Mess, sit down with the crew and order rations from the galley kitchen in the on-site cafe; or take advantage of the dedicated picnic room.
The farmyard and adventure playground are open 17-25 February from 10.30 am – 4.30 pm (last admission 3.30pm). Tickets are priced at £6 per person; £22 per family (two adults and up to three children).
Chatsworth House, Garden and Farmyard open for the new season on 24 March 2018. For more information and ticketing options, visit www.chatsworth.org
*Subject to weather conditions, the trailer ride will operate between 11am and 3pm every day.
