Buxton Carnival weekend has been hailed a huge success, with the organisers praising volunteers and everyone who were involved. The parade last weekend drew huge crowds to the town with celebrations happening all day into the evening with Buxton enjoying a real festival atmosphere.
Wonderfully decorated floats turned out in force with many children on board with lots of foot characters including 1000 Dalmations, Mad Max, a weird alien (not sure what he was!) and so much more… Everyone involved helped make the 177th Buxton Well Dressing Carnival parade another great year for the history books.
The parade line up also included established favourites like Marching Highland Bands, Brass Bands, the (infamous!) Billerettes, Buxton Well Dressing Queen 2017 and visiting Queens. Everyone involved put in a tremendous effort to continually entertain a crowd of 20,000 spectators for two hours.
Live music was played in the Pavilion Gardens, a big highlight being The Aups whose set was superb and clearly were a massive crowd pleaser. Manchester Ska Foundation had huge crowds literally bouncing outside the Queens Hotel, as per usual.
This huge event is only possible thanks to the support Buxton Well Dressing receive from people who dress the wells, build the wells dressings, set up road barriers, cones and diversions. Also the Marshals, Collectors, Police, HPBC, James Mellors Fair, Buxton FC, Buxton AC, Lions, Pavilion Gardens, Buxton Town Team, schools, businesses, Crescent site contractors, local clergy, press and photographers. The Buxton Well Dressing commitee wish to thank you everyone for helping make the day such a great success. Apologies to anyone missed of this list.
