Buxton Tourist Information Centre is providing an information point during the winter closing hours of the Pavilion Gardens.
Tourist information will continue to be available via an electronic touchscreen and leaflet kiosk in the Conservatory between 10am and 4pm until 31st January 2018. Information will also be provided by telephone and email between 10am and 2pm from 2nd to 31st January every day.
The building closed to the public on Christmas Eve and will re-open on 1st February 2018 in a similar arrangement to the same period in 2017.
And, in response to comments received, both the lakeside kiosk and car park public toilets will be open from 10am to 4pm during the winter opening hours (until 31st January).
Councillor Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration and Tourism, said:
“Like any responsible business, we have to ensure we are operating financially viable services so it makes sense to close the building during what is a traditionally quiet time of the year and I think people do understand that.”
“We have listened to what people said to us when the Gardens was closed at the beginning of 2017 and will therefore be keeping the lakeside kiosk and the public toilets at the car park open throughout the period.
“We know how much local people and visitors value the Pavilion Gardens and we remain committed to ensuring it continues to be one of Buxton’s main attractions for generations to come which is why are investing £3m in a major refurbishment
