A COVID-19 Community Testing Centre has opened in the Octagon Hall at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton.
The centre is operating seven days per week, from 9am – 7pm.
High Peak MP Robert Largan said, “Community testing is designed to reduce the rate of infection in a community by identifying people who have Covid but aren’t showing any symptoms. That will lead to a reduction in cases over time.”
“You can get a test at the centre if you don’t have any covid symptoms.”
Once a swab has been taken, you can get your test results back within around just 30 minutes.
Booking is not necessary – the public can turn up at any time during the opening hours.
One in 3 of those with COVID-19 do not have any symptoms, meaning that they could be passing on the virus to anyone they meet.
Community testing is not for those who have coronavirus symptoms. If you DO have symptoms, and therefore need to self isolate – you can book a test as normal via the UK government website at gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
