Among a raft of special festive events you’ll find fine foodie gifts, hand-crafted pressies and usually a bit of glühwein to help you get into that merry spirit as well as markets being held in some truly stunning locations too…

Here’s our pick of the best Christmas Markets in Derbyshire and Peak District 2021:

Matlock Victorian Christmas Market

Where: Hall Leys Park, Causeway Lane, Matlock town centre, Derbyshire, DE4 3AR

When: 3rd – 5th December 2021 (Friday 9am – 6pm, Saturday 9am – 7pm, Sunday 9am – 6pm)



Entry / Cost: Free entry

Matlock Christmas Market is the largest Christmas market in Matlock, with a unique offering of hand-crafted goods. It also plays host the Christmas Lights Switch-on and the famous Firework Display.

Returning for 2021, there is fun for all the family to enjoy. Festive entertainment across the weekend including Santa’s Christmas Parade, light switch on and much more, topped off with a grand finale fireworks display.

The market houses around 200 stalls in two marquees and across the park, whilst entertainment is provided throughout the three days, through a mix of old favourites and new surprises for 2021. The weekend’s highlights include Santa’s Grotto (Saturday and Sunday), and Christmas Light Switch-On during Saturday’s programme, and the event closes with a spectacular firework display on the Sunday evening. The Town’s cafes and shops will be open throughout the weekend.

Winter Artisan Market at Haddon Hall 

Where: Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1LA

When: 18th/19th/20th/21st/25th/26th/27th/28th November 2021, 10am – 5pm each day, last entry 4pm

Entry / Cost: Adults £7.50 per person, children ages 0-15 enter free, parking for this event is free. Tickets can be purchased on the day at their Ticket Office or pre-booked at buy.myonlinebooking.co.uk/haddonhall

Visitors will have plenty of time to browse, shop and enjoy the exciting range of food and gift choices available. Many marquees will be located outdoors, along the drive, within the courtyard and on the Fountain and Bowling Green terraces of the gardens, together with others located within some of the rooms of the Hall itself.

Christmas Weekend at Cromford Mills

Where: Cromford Mills, Mill Lane, Cromford, Matlock, Derbyshire, DE4 3RQ

When: 4th & 5th / 11th & 12th / 18th & 19th December 2021, 10am – 4pm

Enjoy the holiday season at Cromford Mills with festive markets, Medley arts and crafts show, winter warmers, Christmas trees and more.

Chatsworth Christmas Market

Where: Chatsworth, Bakewell, Derbyshire

When: 6th November – 24th December 2021, opening times are Monday – Thursday: 10am – 5.30pm, Friday – Sunday 10am – 6pm

Entry / Cost: Free entry, Parking fees apply, Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the market.

Where better to start your Christmas shopping than at the Chatsworth Christmas market? With over 100 market stalls offering a wide range of Christmas gifts and decorations, it’s a great way to start the festive season. Enjoy a visit later in the day and experience the market at dusk with a magical feel.

You can also explore their own exclusive ranges in the Stables shop with a wide range of home and fashion gifts, and lots of lovely stocking fillers.

Take a break from shopping and enjoy a mulled wine or a German beer at one of our outdoor bars, or sample some delicious food, with gourmet burgers and sausages, hot pork rolls, pancakes, churros and more.

There’s live music too, guaranteed to get you in the festive spirit.

Please note that the ground is muddy in many areas of our car parks. We strongly recommend that you wear wellies or walking boots as well as warm, waterproof clothing and take care walking to and from your car.

Bakewell Christmas Market

Where: Bakewell town centre

When: 20th & 21st November 2021, 9am – 5pm each day

Entry / Cost: Free entry, coaches welcome

Bakewell Christmas Market weekend will be held on Market Street, Granby Road and Riverside Crescent and welcomes visitors, friends and families to our very own quintessential Christmas Market. This is a free event to attend, with some traders from our famous Monday market, traders from the town and from the Peak District and Derbyshire. Our Christmas market this year will host around 100 stalls and gazebos.

Supporting British Legion Riders displaying their motorbikes on Bridge Street, Age UK Bakewell Day Centre, Helens Trust and Weston Park Hospital will also have charity stalls on the market.

Mulled wine to keep you warm, entertainment, decorations, baubles, lights, festive gifts and a varied selection of stalls for everyone will get us in the festive mood.

Festive Themed Artisan Market in Chesterfield

Where: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

When: 28th November and 19th December 2021

A special festive themed Artisan Market will take place on the Sunday 28th November and Sunday 19th December, pick up local produce and some unique gifts.

Dickensian Market at Pavilion Gardens 

Where: Pavilion Gardens, St. John’s Road

When: 27th November 2021

Buxton is very pleased to see the return of the Dickensian Indoor Christmas Market to the Octagon Hall!

This key event in the Christmas calendar is organised by the High Peak Mayoral Committee and gives local charities and organisations the perfect opportunity to raise valuable funds.

Belper Winter Food Festival

Where: Belper

The Food Festival will be held on King St, Campbell St and Strutt St. Come along and enjoy a range of food from local producers, taste a huge range of products on sale and perhaps buy a few Christmas goodies. It is a perfect day out for food lovers.

Chistmas Fairs at Calke Abbey

Denby Pottery Christmas Market

Where: Denby Pottery Village, Derby Road, Denvy, Derbyshire

When: 26th/27th/28th November and 3rd/4th/5th December 2021, 9am – 5pm

This year, the annual Christmas Market will be over two festive weekends. With over 30 hand-picked stallholders selling a wide range of handcrafted and personalised items as well as a selection of delicious artisan food and drink; it’s the perfect place to pick up beautiful gifts for loved ones.
Their Christmas Shop will be open with seasonal home accessories and festive decorations for every tree.
