There’s nothing like putting on your winter warmies, standing round a big hot bonfire and watching fireworks magically light up the sky and there’s plenty of events across the Peak District and Derbyshire to choose from. Here’s our round up of the best Bonfire Night events in Derbyshire & Peak District.
And remember, take care if you’re using fireworks at home, never return to a firework that hasn’t gone off and keep pets indoors if you can around this time, but most of all…enjoy 🙂
Fireworks Spectacular at Conkers
When: 5th & 6th November 2021, doors open 5pm, show starts at 7.30pm
Where: Conkers, Rawdon Road (B586), Moira, Nr Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Derbyshire DE12 6GA
Entry / Cost: Standard ticket prices – Adults £9, children £7 (0 – 16 years), Family ticket £23 (2 adults and 2 children) – please book your tickets online. A map upon arrival will show you, street food stalls, cafes and licensed bars which are open throughout the evening serving your hot food and hot drink favourites. Card payments are accepted indoors. Two nights of Family Fireworks in the Forest!! The best fireworks display with laser dancers and fire breathers and laser show in The National Forest. In addition to the spectacular fireworks show, there will be:

Fireworks in Chesterfield
When: 5th November 2021, from 4.30pm – 9pm, display starts at 7pm
Where: Stand Road Park, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield
Entry / Cost: £2 on the gate, free for children under five. Visitors are asked to have the exact money ready as change cannot be given.
A fantastic celebratory event, the Chesterfield Fireworks Extravaganza takes place at Stand Road Recreation Ground, Whittington Moor.
The fireworks display will begin at the family-friendly time of 7pm and there will also be a selection of fairground rides and food vendors. There will be live entertainment for crowds to enjoy both before and after the fireworks.
Parking for the event will be available at Chesterfield FC’s Technique Stadium for a donation of £3 per car, which will help cover the cost of stewards with any excess being given to charity.
There is also a bus stop on Sheffield Road which is less than a two-minute walk from the park, find more details about bus services that stop here on the Stagecoach website.
The event is organised by Chesterfield Borough Council in partnership with Chesterfield Football Club.
More information about entertainment and safety at the event will be released soon. Visitors are reminded that they should not attend this event if they are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, including a high temperature, a new or continuous cough or a loss of their sense of smell or taste. There will also be plenty of space at Stand Road to ensure visitors can maintain social distancing.
Tutbury Castle Bonfire Night –Vikings and Firework Spectacular!
When: 5th & 6th November 2021, gates open at 5.30pm, entertainment throughout the evening, fireworks approximately 8pm.
Where: Tutbury Castle, Castle St, Burton upon Trent, Tutbury, Staffordshire, DE13 9JF

Not in Derbyshire or the Peak District, but this isn’t very far from Buxton and it’s always a bonfire event with a difference so we wanted to include it…
Voted as one of the best firework displays in the UK, Tutbury Castle is opening its doors again for two nights of fireworks. By popular demand, the Vikings will be back with a great moonlit battle, followed by a Viking ‘funeral’.
This terrifying group always attracts large numbers and there will be a living history camp and lots to see and do for the whole family.
There will also be entertainment from code red fire performers throughout the evening, the pretty tearoom will be open for hot and cold refreshments along with the bar and a BBQ (all reasonably priced!)
Tickets can be bought through the website or by calling the office on 01283 812 129. Customers who buy tickets online will receive a PayPal confirmation which does act as an official Tutbury Castle ticket. We ask that you print this out and bring it with you on the evening. This confirmation contains a unique ID number which will allow entry, without this you may be refused entry.
Matlock Bonfire and Fireworks Extravaganza
When: 6th November 2021, gates open at 5pm, bonfire lit at 6.30pm, kids firework display at 7pm, main display at 7.45pm

In partnership with Electrify Pyrotechnics this will be an event not to miss, with a children’s firework display and then an awe-inspiring musical firework & lightshow display like you have never seen before!

Glossop Round Table Bonfire and Fireworks

Where: Manor Park, Manor Park Road, Glossop SK13 7SH
The Glossop Bonfire is back with a Bang we will be having 2 fireworks display, Fire Breathers, Trapeze artist, Light Dancers & a Funfair and light Dancers. We have a bar and some amazing food outlets attending!
Organised by Glossop & District Round Table, all money raised from this event will be donated to local charities.

Buxton Cricket Club

One of the High Peak’s biggest displays with a new organiser this year! Bigger and better than ever before, with a new and improved format, bigger fairground, two firework displays, various hot food vendors, bar, DJ playing all the latest tunes and family entertainment.

Where: Eyam Village Square, Derbyshire
Entry / Cost: Adults £7 and Children £3. Buy early to avoid disappointment. Tickets are on sale early October at all local Eyam stores and pubs, Calver Spar and Baslow Cafe on the Green.
Come and celebrate Eyam Village Bonfire and Firework Display on Saturday 6th November. Entertainment starts in the village square from 5.30pm. The torch-lit music-led procession of the infamous ‘Willow RAT’ leaves at 6.15pm, carrying it through the village to the chants of ‘Burn the Rat’ up to the playing fields. The RAT is laid on the spectacular bonfire which is then followed by our fabulous firework display. Delicious food and drinks are on offer to include locally produced farmhouse sausage hotdogs, jacket potatoes with chilli or beans, home-made soup & bread, delicious mulled wine, locally brewed beer, hot drinks, parkin and of course bonfire toffee.
All funds raised go to Eyam School PTFA and local community projects so please do come along to support us and join in the fun!
Midland Railway Fireworks
When: 6th November 2021, fireworks from 7.30pm
Where: Midland Railway, Butterley
Entry / Cost: Adults £12, children free (age 15 and under)
- Catch a train from Butterley – frequent services from 5.30pm (last train to fireworks display at 7.15pm)
- Enjoy the spectacular fireworks display with music starting at 7.30pm at Swanwick Junction
- Explore the Museum, Stationary Power Display and Road Transport Display
- Visit the Victorian Railwayman’s Church and Demonstration Signal Box
- Take a trip on the Narrow Gauge Trains through the Spooky Park if you dare (additional charge)
- Indulge in seasonal food and warming hot drinks
- The attractions continue after the fireworks display so there is no need to rush home; trains will run until 9.30pm
