There’s nothing like putting on your winter warmies, standing round a big hot bonfire and watching fireworks magically light up the sky and there’s plenty of events across the Peak District and Derbyshire to choose from. Here’s our round up of the best Bonfire Night events in Derbyshire & Peak District

Come and watch one of the largest firework shows in the Midlands. Along with the fireworks there’s a great line up of additional activities: a laser show, fairground amusements, face painting, balloon modelling, a tombola and craft activities for children. All of the traditional activities to make a great night out for the family. Street food stalls, cafes and licensed bars will be open through out the evening serving your food and drink favourites.

We are delighted to welcome back our bonfire and fireworks this year in the garden – celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with ‘an extraordinary voyage into space,’ including two spectacular firework displays, including an early display for little ones.
Our blazing bonfire – lit at the earlier time of 6:30pm – will set the mood for an exhilarating evening of entertainment for visitors of all ages.
Wrap up warm and join us for a range of family fun entertainment plus a selection of delicious food from hog roasts and jacket potatoes to churros and sweet treats. Treat yourself with a glass of mulled wine or cider – the ultimate winter warmers.
Dinner with bonfire and fireworks: Buy combined two-course dinner in the Cavendish and bonfire and firework tickets. This special ticket is available on both nights. Adults £42.50, restaurant opens at 5.45pm.

Where: Ashbourne Recreation Ground, Ashbourne, Derbyshire
The display will start at 7.30pm and last for approximately 20 minutes. There will also be a fun fair on Cokayne Avenue car park.

When: 3rd November 2019, from 4pm – 8pm.
Where: Stand Road Park, Whittington Moor, Chesterfield
A fantastic celebratory event for local residents, the Chesterfield Fireworks Extravaganza.
Gates for the annual firework event will open at 4pm. The bonfire will be lit at 6pm and the Fireworks will take place at 7pm.
Before the fireworks there will be live entertainment on the Peak FM sound stage from 5:30pm

Although not strictly in Derbyshire, Tutbury Castle is right on the border and many of us from Derbyshire head down to this popular attraction during the year. Voted as one of the best firework displays in the UK, Tutbury Castle is opening its doors again for two nights of fireworks. `By popular demand, the Vikings will be back with a great moonlit battle, followed by a Viking ‘funeral’. This terrifying group always attracts large numbers and there will be a living history camp and lots to see and do for the whole family. There will be entertainment throughout the evening, the pretty tearoom will be open for hot and cold refreshments along with the bar and BBQ (all reasonably priced!)
Entry / Cost: £9 adults, £8 children, under 12/seniors and concessions, under 5s free of charge
Tickets can be bought through the website or by calling the office on 01283 812 129. Customers who buy tickets online will receive a Paypal confirmation which does act as an official Tutbury Castle ticket. We ask that you print this off and bring it with you on the evening. This confirmation contains a unique ID number which will allow entry, without this you may be refused entry.

Where: Matlock RFC, Cromford Meadows, Matlock
Matlock RFC will be hold their a giant Bonfire & Firework extravaganza once again!
In partnership with Electrify Pyrotechnics this will be an event not to miss, with a children’s firework display and then an awe-inspiring musical firework & lightshow display like you have never seen before!

The Commercial in Glossop is holding a Bonfire Night Party on Saturday 3rd November from 8.30pm. All are welcome.
Tickets are available online soon – and available in local shops early October 2019.

Where: Buxton Cricket Ground, Park Road
Its one of the High Peak’s biggest displays and this year will be no exception. This display is great if you fancy drinks after as you’re only a few minutes from a number of bars in town.
Hog roast, burgers, mulled wine, soft drinks etc. Vendors selling candy floss, light sticks etc. too.
Please note: Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Where: Buxton Cricket Ground, Park Road
Entry / Cost: Tickets are £8 per person, under 15s go FREE. Advance ticket can be purchased from Buxton Opera House online at buxtonoperahouse.org.uk/event/buxton-lions-firework-display-hog-roast Pre-booked tickets must be posted or collected from Buxton Opera House Box Office. Buxton Opera House ticket sales will close at 3pm on the day. After this time, tickets must be purchased on the gate at Buxton Cricket Ground.
9. EYAM BONFIRE
When: 2nd November 2019, from 5.30pm
Where: Eyam / Eyam Village Square, Derbyshire
Come and celebrate Eyam Village Bonfire and Firework Display! Entertainment starts in the village square from 5.30pm. The torch-lit music-led procession of the infamous ‘Willow RAT’ leaves at 6.15pm, carrying it through the village to the chants of ‘Burn the Rat’ up to the playing fields.
The RAT is laid on the spectacular bonfire which is then followed by our fabulous firework display. Delicious food and drinks are on offer to include locally produced farmhouse sausage hotdogs, jacket potatoes with chilli or beans, home-made soup & bread, delicious mulled wine, locally brewed beer, hot drinks, parkin and of course bonfire toffee.
Tickets are now on sale at all local Eyam stores and pub, Calver Spar and Baslow Cafe on the Green.
All funds raised go to Eyam School PTFA and local community projects so please do come along to support us and join in the fun!

Where: Midland Railway, Butterley
Catch a train from Butterley – frequent services from 5.30pm (last train to fireworks display at 7.15pm). Enjoy the spectacular fireworks display with music starting at 7.30pm at Swanwick Junction. Explore the Museum, Stationary Power Display and Road Transport Display. Visit the Victorian Railwayman’s Church and Demonstration Signal Box. Take a trip on the Narrow Gauge Trains through the Spooky Park if you dare (additional charge. Indulge in seasonal food and warming hot drinks. The attractions continue after the fireworks display so there is no need to rush home; trains will run until 9.30pm
