Becky Simpson, Supervisor at Craghoppers outdoor clothing store in Buxton has been awarded the Duke of Edinburgh Diamond Award, a challenge she undertook in 2016 as part of the DofE Diamond Anniversary last year. The challenge was created to raise funds for the DofE charity to help put thousands more young people through the nationally well known and recognised scheme.
With the recent opening of Craghoppers in Buxton which offers young people an officially approved range of DofE clothing in store for their challenging expeditions – Becky was keen to get more involved and so decided to take her challenge!
“I spent two nights Neolithic camping. This involved going out and living off whatever I could find and making my own shelters and setting my own fires using only natural equipment. I chose to wear my Craghoppers gear, as it gave me NosiLife protection from insects and great weather resistance. I spent my adventure hungry and tired – but never uncomfortable and wet! After my three days were over, I had an even greater appreciation for the Craghoppers brand. It has a great fit, it’s durable and comfortable, and I would recommend the DofE range for anyone wanting great gear at a great price. It helped me to go out and challenge myself.”
From walking trousers to insulating layers, you can find the clothing you require from the huge ranges at the Craghoppers and Hawkshead Buxton store. The latest additions to the partnership include the Midas collection – suitable for both experienced DofE expedition leaders and those who take part in the challenge, the Midas range is waterproof, windproof, and expedition proof. Craghoppers work with DofE closely to produce kit that will be useful on and off any expedition.
The latest Duke of Edinburgh’s Award approved Craghoppers range is now available both in-store and online at www.craghoppers.com
