The period finishings offer the perfect settings to step back in time to bygone eras and enjoy a truly traditional Christmas.

As Sudbury Hall celebrate 50 years with the National Trust, this Christmas sees the finale where they tale you on journey of from the grey world of monochrome to the wild colours of the 1960s. Expect a playful alternative take on the festive season! To make sure that everyone can enjoy the hall in its Christmas finery entry to the hall will be via timed tickets, book at visitor reception on arrival.

This will be the first year that the restored State Bed in all its glory will be back where it belongs. The 30 year restoration of the State Apartment finally finished early 2017. The hall will be decorated in all the festive finery as usual and there will be Christmas Crafts and workshops ideal for all the family.

Join Chatsworth this festive season as they celebrate some of Charles Dickens’ best loved works. Discover the splendour and squalor of Dickensian London, with Victorian shop fronts, the London Docks, Scrooge’s bed and much, much more all dressed for Christmas. Fagin, Bill Sikes and Miss Havisham will help bring the theme to life delighting all ages.

Plus you’ll have the opportunity to try on dozens of character costumes.

Haddon Hall Christmas

This year Haddon Hall will as usual be decorated throughout, with a broad programme of events over Christmas including popular. Music will fill your ears with different carols in each room, Haddon Hall explores the meaning behind some of our favourite Christmas Carols. Don’t miss the Christmas Artisan Market on 17th, 18th & 19th November 2017, 10am – 5pm.

Hardwick Hall Christmas

Immerse yourself in the festive season with traditional decorations and a festive song theme in each room this year in the Hall. Follow the trail around the hall and explore the wider estate. Lyme Park Christmas

This at Lyme Park during during Christmas is ‘A Regency Christmas’, – During the Regency, Christmas was a time of celebration. There wasn’t the emphasis on gift giving as there is today, instead the focus was on spending time with family and friends at parties, feasts and gatherings. Visit the house on open days to see how the season was celebrated. Carol singing also on selected dates too. If you want to make the most of a crisp winter’s day, bring the family for the festive trail in the garden and go in search of a cheeky selection of elves and fairies who are hidden amongst the trees.

Come along to Ilam Park to take part in Winter Crafts on 17th December – drop in and make natural Christmas decorations and treats for your birds to enjoy in your garden. The grounds of Ilam really are some of the most beautiful in the area, located in Dovedale so you can always take in some of the stunning scenery if you visit here. British sustainably grown Christmas trees (various sizes) are also on sale on 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th December at Ilam Hall.
